new castle pa
well i almost made a thread about parting my blaster today. i remembered the pledge i made to never part out. i thought long and hard all day. im tired of having the slowest quad of all my friends. im tired of being in the back of the pack. im tired of all the sh*t i take from people who have never ridden or owned a blaster. so instead of paying to rebuild my quad once again or continue with my build. im going all out. a blaster forum first!! a FZR 600 blaster!!! its a 98 motor. im ether buying it tomorrow for $300 running (motor, electronics, pipes, carbs, tank, and speed and tack) or trading it for my rm 80. stroked tater agreed to help fit the beast in the blaster frame for $250. as soon as i have the motor a build thread will be made with tons of pics. my goal: be able to take it to Awks Wild ride!!!

you dont ride with the people i ride with. and yours is nice

I've riden with plenty of 450s and and modded 250s. Blasters can handle it. I realize yours isn't great shape but I think a complete engine swap is going to be a ton to handle and will add sooo much weight to the quad. But to each his own, if it is what you want to do, do it. I:I

well, i would have just sent the whole motor to ken oconnor for a "real" professionally built, ported blaster motor, and saved a whole ton of hassles, for around the same amount of money, or less
as for making it to my ride on this 600 beast ?????????
and dont forget about the handling your gonna lose going this route because of the mucho added weight

True that... $550 will go a long way with Ken Oconnor. And it'd be running tip top shape afterward.

the thing is i will only have $300. i can not afford to pay for a ken motor. trust me i have thought long and hard about it.

Yeah, I understand. BUT your plans are $300 for the motor and $250 for strokedtater... that equals $550. I would save up until you have that, while saving do body work on your own (most of which is free), when you get it send it to Ken and talk to him on the phone. Tell him the money you have and tell him do what he can.

Sounds like your gonna have $550 into it not $300

such a waste of a quad, IMO, keep the bike motors on the bikes where they belong.

exactly, these streetbike hybrids never end up as a daily driver, more of a drag queen or just a novelty that soon wears off when the cost of maintaining them is realized

Why don't you try out the rm80 in it...? You have it. Send it to ken to fix the gearing (won't cost a TON I doubt) and it will easily fit in. Stock it has 27.5HP which is roughly 10HP more than a stock blaster.

$550 to Ken Oconnor for a faster motor.... $300 for FZR 600 blaster.....$250 rm 80 stroked blaster..... FINDING SLOWER FRIENDS PRICELESS B) B) B) B)

dude u can have a lot done to ur blaster motor for 550 bro, talk to him he will help u out, trust me ken rocks, dont waste ur money on a friggin 600 motor and stuff it in a blaster frame, they are a pain in the ass to maintain, a streetbike motor is not meant to go offroad, it is high rpms really fast, i own one i know how they perform. yeah u can change the gearing but i promise u will regret doing it, take the 550, save up and kenofy ur motor, do not do this swap u will regret it i guarantee, ull be good on the straights thats about it. the problems u will have with it riding it in the terrain...another story.

How much will those modded RM's put out? I've thought about putting an 80/85 into a lightweight frame. I would think with a pipe, porting, increased compression, big bore, etc. you could see some smiles.
