My wife rides a completely stock 04 blaster that we picked up this spring, I was doing some service work on it this weekend and noticed the stock foam air filter was starting to fall apart. Rather than replacing it I was thinking of upgrading to a K&N (Same as what I'm running in my 250R trikes), Can any one tell me if I'm going to require a jet size increase with just the filter change? If so Where should I start?
I want to leave the airbox lid on and as stock and reliable as I can, The only change will be oil pump block off and switching to 50:1 premix this winter.

Thanks

Ross..

you would prolly have ta rejet ta a 240 maybe..but if you run a k&n fillter its best ta take off the fillter lid.cuz if you keep the lid on your not gettin all the air that you can get..and also i would go with a 35:1 ta 40:1 ratio...any of those are good

i pretty sure someone posted about this the other day and im pretty sure the answer was no you dont need to rejet. But why run at 50:1 ? Most people run at 32:1 or 40:1 which is safer. Just wondering

i run bell ray mc1 in my tecate it went like a srtipped a** ape at 50:1 and i tried to blow it, it would not blow......i also ran it in my blaster not one problem

I bought a twin air filter dual stage foam ran it with lid ran good than i got a pre-filter were the lid goes(so i ran it with out the lid but the pre-filter on) with out the lid It runs LEAN it would barely stay alive so i used both a lid and a pre-filter run great and i can go twice as long before i have to clean it

First the ratio on a synthetic oil is usually mixed 50:1 as the bottle says.

The other is that you mught consider the outerwears pre filter sock that will fit over that K&N filter. We found that they will not keep out the fine dust like an oiled foam filter.

u could take the lid off like everyone suggested or do like i did on my blaster and take the lid off and on the bottom side were its the sqaure box for air to run threw drill like 3 "1 inch holes in it then clean them up and make sure no plastic in it that way it gets more air but not at risk were as lid is off... im going to post how to do it so look for it
