I think I blew my blaster

Is the kick start seized up and take off pipe and look in exhaust port at piston and no do not go with that piece of s***t eBay top end send ur cylinder to ken to het honed and maybe bored depending on damage and get a wiesco top end kit ask ken I think he will send it to you if you pay extra along with bore or hone bc it has to be exact

So the piston might of shattered and is in the bottom and top end of ur crank arm might of siezed up take the top end off and post some pics

Also if ur going rebuild it definitely check out kens YouTube has great videos and shows rebuilding complete blaster engine step by step kenoconnorracing

This would be my first time doing a top end. When doing the top end do I have to pull the engine?

No u don't have to pull the engine but it could be bottom end rod siezed or bottom end bearings blown and in that case you would have to pull the enigine

And if the piston is shattered or pieces broken off u will definitely have to pull engine and go through everything and remove piston fragments otherwise u risk damaging the motor even more and restarting from the beginning

First things first. I would look into either buying or building a leakdown tester. You should leak test before tare down to check if there was a leaky gasket, seal, etc.. that could have lead to the seizure or whatever the issue is. You are going to need a leakdown tester regardless ,so you might as well build or buy one now.

Do not buy one of the cheap chinese e bay cylinder kits.... . Chances are the cylinder on your bike now, can be repaired/overbored. These stock Blaster cylinders have quite a bit of life/bores in them.

I would love to try one of those inexpensive top ends from ebay, just to see what it would be like and to see how long it would last. That is however... After I've checked the cylinder for taper, roundness, proper piston to cylinder clearance, and also added proper chamfering to all the ports.

I'm sure that cylinder is crap, but maybe... just maybe :)

this would be for sh*ts and giggles and to see how long it would last. I would also use an hour meter to keep track.

Remember... I'm the guy that put in a "cheap cast piston" (thats what all the ignorant people call them) to prove a point. I'm still on that "WSM" brand piston after 3 years + and still have great compression and lots of power! That's with a ported cylinder and a re-chambered high compression head, etc, etc

I would also HIGHLY recommend boring the factory cylinder. Nothing like OEM quality.

Mr O'Connor did a review on these cylinders. I can't seem to find the thread but it wasn't long ago if that helps. I guess the cyl wall/sleeve was cheap crap material and wouldn't wear for chit.. What I mean is it would wear prematurely..

Maybe Ken still has that cyl and would donate it to you for a trial run? Hour meter, good run review on what to expect /not expect ?! ((Some way to prevent or save it)) Its a long shot but For the price its still hard to resist. Even with a ride review saying it didn't go well, maybe a real thurough review to know actually what happened/would happen could prevent things? <<< Probably not ,,,but science is in the #'s. Give it one last try for the sake of ???

OEM Blasters cylinders are luckily still in abundance but that won't be forever..

Id also be willing to throw in a new 66mm wiseco n rings for testing purposes, even though it looks like the piston/rings arent the issue.

Thanks for all the responses. Sorry for the dumb question but can you do a leakdown test if the engine is seized?

DO IT !! Always good idea, might reveal why it seized. Then you can address that issue while it's down.

Even though some don't like final/last bore on cylinders , I'd rather have that than a new junk cyl.
Would even rather spend the extra to get one resleeved.

It's a shame, just a little bit better quality, and they could have had a stellar product.
I wouldn't even use one on a flipper, for fear it would come back to bite me in the azz.

I'd just buy one from awk00 a member on here for 35 comes with everything u need or make one urself there's a diy in the diy section on building one pretty simple
