I hope its just the Top end!!!!!

easiest way to find out what size piston you have is to look at the top of the piston you took out...there are numbers atamped in it...the last 4 numbrs is your piston size...i.e. if the last four numbers are 6800 then you have a 68mm piston. hope that solves that problem

and after you clean it out you can lube it if you want to...I usually do just so its not like dry starting.. just use regular oil and lightly coat the parts with a cloth of some sort. just be advised that if you do do this when you do start it back up for the first time your gona get a lil more smoke outa the exhaust for the first little bit...

can somebody explain what a air leak is im new to quads athopght i had snomwobiles with 2 strokes for 10 years i never heard that term

it will happen if one of your intake boots or gasket has a small hole in it(air leak)..it will cause your engine to lean out (air to fuel ratio) which can potentialy be a very bad thing if not fixed. also if theres a crack in your case ..etc..things can go BOOM !!!

well put...i was thinking air leak is a pretty self explanorty term. hmm idk maybe not.

Thanks

The only problem is my piston has a nickle size hole in the top and alum. burnt pieces that I think cover the #'s.. I see a arrow ....

Daniel.Thanks..... that mineral spirits worked great....at first it was stuck I rinsed it out about 8 times and now its smooth as pie.....

Of course the best way is the hardest way. The only sure way to get it all out is to split the cases. But if thats not in the cards do this.

Go to Wal-Mart and get a gallon of mineral spirits. Should cost you less than $5. Fill up the crankcase and let the aluminum float to the top. Do it a few times. Work the crank around and make sure you get all the particles out. Make sure you drain all the mineral spirits out before you reassemble.

to check the cylinder..use a micrometer, they have em at most tool places..or take it to a local shop and have em mic it to see..or , some pistons are marked..look for numbers on it
