I have a blaster, stock bore, boyesen reeds, full fmf exhaust, oil block off, lid is on airbox, and hole on bottom is blocked. I have my clip on #2 groove down from top, 230 main, 32.5 pilot, and air screw 2 turns out. It loads up and won't clean out, plug is always wet and black, I thought if you put a pipe on you have to go up on main, but really the plug is telling me to go down. Whats your thoughts, this is confusing.

That main that you are running is stock. Best thing to do is start over and put the carb back to "stock" Clip should be in the 3rd or middle spot. Turn the A/F screw 1 1/2 turns out and then jet up from there. When modding the engine just moving the clip is a bad way to tune the bike. Start with jetting up or down and then move the needle clip to "fine tune it"

with your mods and that jet, plug should be reading lean, i'd be lookin for sumthin out of the ordinary, try a different plug, hows the spark, nice and blue???, air filter clogged, possibly silencer clogged, sounds like its not getting enuf air???? or not exhausting it properly, did that pipe lay around for awhile, and possibly mouse nest in it??
clean the carb good ??? what kinda oil you using, i had troubles with amsoil dominator, mixing it 32:1, amsoil says 50:1 for that oil??sure your mix is right??, i lost count once and added too much oil, caught it and added another gallon of gas

Exhaust is open, carb and air filter is clean, mixing oil correctly, when I take airbox lid off it backfires every now and then. It has real nice blue spark. With a 230 in it wont clean out at full throttle, should I drop a size till it cleans out? I'm at a loss.

i would put all settings back to stock if it is still running bad, lean or richin it at the needle first then jet up or down. what it sound like is you need better air flow in to it. With that new pipe it increases air flow out of the engine which in turn means you may need better flow in...try running it with out the airbox on the carb (DO NOT ride it with the air box off the carb) and see if that makes any difference.

OK, I took snorkel hose off airbox lid and the plug off the bottom of airbox. 230 main is in, clip on needle is on the second groove down from top,32.5 pilot, and mixture screw 2 turns out. The plug is rich, runs good at top end, but still sluglish on the bottom. Should I move clip up to the top? Or should I drop the pilot to a 30 or so?

Check your float level, float hang up, float needle valve ( make sure that it stops gas when bowl full) You might have bumped float enough to "mess" something up when you worked on it. Hope this helps!
