hey guys I just pick up an 02 blaster and it's clear the top end is toast! But how do I check the crankshaft bearing to know if i should replace them or just do the seals? I'm also looking at top end kits with the cylinder on Amazon are they ok? Or should I get a cylinder and then get wiseco piston? I'm ordering a wiseco crankshaft kit just in case.

Wiseco crank assemblies are low quality, and tend not to be within spec. Don't fall for the name game. Wiseco doesn't mean awesome.
A forged, or cast piston will suit you just fine. If you go for a forged piston just make sure to warm up the engine properly before riding. "Properly" means thoroughly.

A cast piston will also serve you well (my favorites and also manufacturer's favorite).

Bottom line... Use a quality oil, JET CORRECTLY, and build it to last by doing everything correctly.

Send your cylinder to Ken right here \/ \/ \/

Quality machine work for a VERY reasonable price!

While your at it... Why not have that cylinder ported and head re-chambered
It will double your power and still retain the reliability and longevity.

I didn't take it apart I got it in pieces. The guy took the top end apart to rebuild only to find I was bored. So I don't know any thing about the motor that's why I was just going to get a crankshaft kit. This is just a spare wheeler for friends to ride so I don't want to dump a bunch of cash into it. I don't have any where near me to bore the old cylinder so I saw the kits on Amazon and the price is right. I take good care of my toys always serviced regularly and properly warmed up before rideing.

The Amazon kit is crap Send ur cylinder to ken at kenoconnorracing he will bore ur cylinder and get a piston to match i think a bore is 45 but I'm not sure and idk hm a weirs of piston is from him

Well ,, it's not that the wiseco crank wont work but it's on the bottom of the list as far as a quality product. A rebuilt OEM crank is probably the best. Buying that kit that you listed you will still have to have your cylinder bored/honed to fit the new piston. Refering to the amazon/ebay kits>> The problem isn't as much as the the piston quality it's more of the cylinder itself being junk..

For just a few more bucks than the cost of that Amazon kit you can have your crank rebuilt (best quality) your cylinder bored/honed/chamfered, along with a new top end kit and the piece of mind knowing everything is gravy..

What really sux is seeing the amount sold # on those cheap e bay/Amazon kits.. Over 3000 sold,,, ouch !!:eek: Please fight the urge and don't add to that # o_O

Heres a perfect example from a post from today..

"Finally got everything done yesterday and was able to actually ride today on this cylinder. Have to say not only does it sound 100times better then the ebaycylinder kit that was on here before, It has so much more power". I also had to give in and get a full hmf exhaust. After doing two plug chops to insure correct jetting I now have my mind at peace LOL.:D

Look in the Clymers Repair Manual or the on line manual for the specs. Rod: no up/down play, check side clearance with feeler gauge, check side/side play at small end. Main bearings : with flywheel and gears off check up/down and in/out for any play'. If !ore than a hair or two replace both. When you pull seals inspect closely for ANY rust pits.
Don't get a cheep Egay/Amazon cyl/ cyl, piston kit not worth the scrap metal they're made of.

Funny thing about Wiseco cranks. Quality must be hit or miss. Have a 4 mil on the Banshee for over 4 yrs no issues.

I'm going to call ken oconer tomorow and see what the price will be to get the work done. I don't know for sure that I need a crank but there was water in the case so I feel I should change bearings and seals. So I was going to put a new crank in it.

@justblastin As someone who has been in your shoes, need a quick, fast, cheap rebuild, I have turned to the ebay cylinder.....DON NOT BUY...please its such a waste of time, energy and money!
See my "rebuild" thread....:http://www.blasterforum.com/threads/full-rebuild-of-180-blaster.59775/page-3

thing blew up on the first ride out....

From Kens website:
Crank rebuild for blaster: $120.00
Cylinder porting: $65.00
New piston kit: $125.00
Shipping (guess) $30.00
Total $340.00 +/- $20.00?

Weisco Piston kit from your link: $275.00
Ebay cylinder kit from your link: $116.00
Total $391.00

Plus the $340.00 for when your ebay piston snags a port on the crappy bore and shatters the skirt into the brand new crank and bearings lol.

I have done exactly this scenario before. literally to the T....
