i got my head nuts torqued down to the 18 or 20 foot pounds(dont remeber which one right now) but how do you torque the nuts holding the cylinder to the engine? there is no way i can fit my torque wrench there i just used a little wrench and compared the tightness to another bold that i torqued to 20

if there is a leak what do you do? im in the process of making a leakdown tester right now. also i think i made a mistake, when i put in the bottom gasket i didnt sand off the black stuff i just wiped it off with denatured alcohol and put the gasket on. i havnt ran then engine yet. is this bad?

If you have a leak, you pull the top end back off and start over. Check all of the gasket mating surfaces for warp and but it back down.

The gasket mating surfaces don't have perfectly clean but they can't be uneven. If there is staining, you don't have to sand that off, but if there are chunks of old gasket on there, they need to be scraped off.

i took the approprietly sized socket, drilled a hole thru it near the top, then insert a skinny phllips svrewdriver and crank them tight, then re crank after heat cycles and cool down,
for the kicker side front one, i cut off the "water pump outlet tube", and re-installed the plug, even though it doesn't penetrate the case, that made getting at that one much much easier

no close up pics of it now, i can get some, but just cut it half way down, as i said, it doesnt even go into the case, it's plugged with casting, like it would need drilled out for the dt motor water pump set up
makes that front nut as easy as the rest

best i could find right now from my recent build thread, it's cut off so low, you can barely see the rubber plug stickin up in this pic.........................
