so, ive been doing some thinking. all over YouTube youll see comments about how you should always avoid the puddles or any water in general. how much water is too much? im afraid to spray my quad down. dont want to replace any more parts than i need to. its too filthy though. how much truth is actually behind these claims?

Having unintentionally tested a few to failure, I can answer this question.

You can do very little damage with a waterhose but have to be quite careful with a pressure washer.

That said, do not get it into your:
1) muffler
2) airbox and carb
3) electronics
4) cables
5) switches including keyswitch
6) do not pressure wash decals

Once washed it is a good idea to start it up and allow to warm up and dry off.

I flipped dirtbikes upside down in several feet of water or mud. This is bad. While I have always been able to limp my 2 strokes home, a rebuild will generally follow. Broken rings, scored cylinders and mud damaged bearing are the usual damage.
