How many things cause no spark

I bought a blaster from a guy who had a Vitos 240 kit put in it. He couldnt get the bike to run and sold it to me real cheap. It has no spark. I unhooked the tors. I replaced the wiring harness, the stator assembly (both stators and the pulser), new cdi, voltage regulator and a new coil. I took the engine loose and sanded all the places where the engine meets the frame, thinking maybe its a ground, also ran a couple of new grounds from the engine to the frame. I took the bike to the local yamaha dealer and they said all components tested good and the only things it could be is a cdi, cause you cant test it, or the air gap on the pulser, so I bought ANOTHER cdi and checked the gap on the pulser, its good. the flywheel key is good, not sheared. I get one spark about every 15 kicks, if that, and pull starting, it wont hit a lick. Can anyone suggest anything short of a gallon of gas and a match...lol...Its a 96 if it matters...

Thanks for any and all suggestions...anyone around st louis wanna make a few bucks? B-)

did you change the rotor? Or is that the pulser, iver never heard of that. And there is only one stator on a bike. Did you replace the coil?

yep, thats what I meant...lol...I replaced everything behind the flywheel. I believe I have replaced every single electrical component. It has good compression and its getting gas, I cant get the spark to cooperate. I even put new reeds in it...

when people say the flywhell they really mean the rotor. Did you replace that? because that is a magnet that produces power that goes to the stator

the rotor/flywheel is the only thing I have left to replace, its still original. Could it go bad? It still seems to have alot of magnetic pull...

I have tried a couple of different plugs, I tried the cheap things first, but its all startin to add up on me...

I appreciate all the suggestions for sure, I hope one of em works!

you disco'd the tors but maybe thats whats wrong with it
a bunch of people on here have stated that they disco'd their tors and had to loop the wires at the throttle to get the bike to run, maybe thats what is holding up the fun
hopefully you figure out whats wrong with it so you can ride

It does have the ign switch. I have checked and it seems to work ok but I will try unhooking it to see what happens..

Ive tried with and without the tors and still had the same results...

Ill check the magnets, hadnt thought of that...

I appreciate everyones help!

If your leaning towards a ground problem check out the area by the cdi and voltage regulator, theres a ground up there. If the frame has been pc'd or painted maybe that could be the problem.

thanks for all the great suggestions, I have followed up on each and every one of them. Unfortunately there is still no spark.

Whats an engine worth with a vitos 240 kit in it? It has never run since the kit was installed so it is still virtually new. I dont believe the lower end was touched, to be honest, I dont know. I am leaning towards parting this thing out, it seems destined to not run...

its defently worth something with the big bore kit, but do you even have evidence of that? he could have just said it. pop the head off and measure the bore roughly with a venirs. should be 72mm + for a true 240 kit. if its 67mm i belive, thats .040 over, which many mystake/use to fool people.

on topic, if you have a multimeter, try to check the current coming from the wires from the stator.

Its really got the kit in it, I do know that much...It has to, there are vitos stickers on the fender, that proves it...LOL

I checked everything with the meter, and I took it to the yamaha dealer who checked everything and said it is all in working order, They said it was probably the CDI, possibly the gap in the pulser. I checked the pulser, it was good and I bought my 2nd new CDI, still nothing. I need to find a local blaster someone will let me exchange some parts to track it down, its driving me insane...

Its a beater old bike, but with the big engine it'd be worth fixin up a little.

I dont have hardly anything in it and Im trying to keep from getting over my head...

lol i have a hot cams sticker on mine from the guy b4 me but guess what? yeah, blasters are 2 strokes... that cam helps alot lol.

what pipes it have?

It has a DG pipe on it...

It has a key switch and it is in working order, I have tried un hooking it, but it tests out okay...

Ive been through several spark plugs, same result...
