ok, so my other thread is still active, but not really. idk. but... it still wont start, and im trying to get ahold of a stock reed cage because I have a brand new set of stock reeds ready to drop in and hopefully eliminate the or a problem. BUT!! one of the prev owners said it has a big bore kit in it.... I never believe anyone when they say that about any motor unless I see receipts or the old piston or I know that it truly does have one. NOW, if it DOES have a big bore kit, would me putting in a smaller cage with smaller reeds compound my problems or not make a difference? all I know for 100% is the full DG pipe n header and I pre mix it 32:1.

so my question is, aside from the comp test, can I look thru the intake (where the reeds cage goes) and look at the piston and see if its a diff piston or a big piston? I know I can, but I dunno what a stock one looks like. this one looks newish, but I attribute that to having had it tore apart to have the new trans put in. so I dunno. im a bit lost. and I NEED to get this thing running. or at least eliminate some problems and issues.

thanks,
Hunter

Hey thanks..... well, I guess I can just take off the jug to find out? measure the cyl bore with a micrometer... but how hard is that to do? I mean, with my 660R, I have to take off the valve cover, timing chain, cam, decomp mechanism and then the head just to get to the cyl. but 2 strokes don't have any of that. so, I mean is it something I can do without removing the motor? thanks for the quick response, too. also, I cant watch the vid, im in my garage catching 3G, but im 99.9% sure its a stock cyl. just not sure if its bored even .010 over.

Easy, peasy to drop off the head!

Remove the six nuts and washers and lift the head off, no need to remove the tank.

If it is over size the piston should have a marking to that fact.

Please use a new head gasket and torque down to 20 ft lbs diagonally and incrementally.
