it is a leakdown tester.
you use it to check for any air leaks on your quad.
air leaks are bad for your engine, it will go ka-boom.

or if you're having a hard time jetting the quad, the idle is unpredictable (very high), or it won't start, its one of the main things that should be done on ANY 2 stroke

these are not just for a 2-stroke, a 4-stroke can also use this. as the newer 450s actually have an automatic compression release in them.

hey thanks, i really appreciate that man :) anything i can do to help out fellow blaster owners!

airleaks have got to be the #1 most over looked problems in 2 strokes, if your tuning with an airleak your just chasing your tail. if your leak isn't found and fixed, it will pop

thanks for the feedback guys, now keep those blastys alive and stoich

Only kick starts like most bikes have the auto release. Electric starts don't need it.
You are right on the fact it is newer tech. I put 03 cams in my 01 YZ250F to get rid of the starting ritual (as I called it) because of the lack of a compression release.

holeshot mans leakdown testers are crap!!!!!! they found an airleak in my engine now i have to ix it, C'mon man!!!!!!

hahaha jokes, prolly saved me some decent money man, thanks a bunch
