High-Teck-Redneck

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I am currently saving money up so I can get it done. Hoping to be out on the trails with it in a few weeks.

I am thinking about tearing the whole thing down and painting the frame and everything while I have the motor out of it.

What do you guys think? Just get it running first or do it while its apart?

I am leaving this one up to you guys!:D

Hey neighbor, welcome! Just a little bit north of ya in Otsego, (used to live in the Milwood area). Sweet score on the Blaster! I vote get it running & ride it! I:I

I am in the process of painting the rims on the Blasty, sorry guys but i got bored and had all the stuff to do it so it didn't cost me anything. I'm painting them orange. My father-in-law thinks it will contrast well with the blue, so i figured what the heck, i have about 20 different colors of painst so i can change it if it doesnt look right, but so far i have to say I'm liking it alot...i might paint the frame the same color. I am taking pictures and will write up a little DIY on how i painted my rims, im just doing a little single layer spray bomb for now...just enough to get me motivated to get the motor done and done the right way! Ill post pics later tonight or tomorrow.I:I

OK, so here is my little DIY rim painting post. This is to show how i painted my rims and to give others an idea on how to do it with the tires still mounted. This is just a quick way to shine up your bike if it starts looking dull after a few months of fun...

Rim before!

These are the tools you will need. Utility knife. scissors. Masking tape, and a piece of cardboard to kneel on.

Take an old T-shirt you dont care about. Lay it on the rim like so...

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac252/redneckgunner/master blaster/Blaster004-1.jpg

Cut a hole in the center for a starting point...

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac252/redneckgunner/master blaster/Blaster005-1.jpg

Take the utility knife and put it between the rim and the tire and go around the rim to cut the hole out. make sure the blade is sharp and dont stab the tire. Use the scissors to trim it so its a little bit bigger but not much, like 1/8in all the way around

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac252/redneckgunner/master blaster/Blaster007.jpg

Now make sure there is enough room to tape it, the hole has to be slightly larger then the rim.

Use the masking tape to tape the shirt and to cover the tire under the lip of the rim, that way its not looking all redneck-ish...lol

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac252/redneckgunner/master blaster/Blaster010.jpg

Paint the rim, I started with the outer lip, then went to the inner lip and worked my way down, there is less chance of a run in the paint that way.

Let the rim dry for a couple hours. touch the center hole of the rim, if it is still tacky let it dry another couple hours. The reason for touching the center hole is that if the paint does come off on your finger, when you paint the other side it will cover up the finger mark...lol If it is dry remove the tape and shirt.

The paint i use is Rust-Olium orange.

one thing i did notice was the lack of showing how to cover up a valve stem, I just take masking tape and go around it, and make sure there is a cap on the stem to ensure no paint gets into the valve.

I hope you all enjoy my little DIY and it helps out

I know alot of people are going to say something because I didn't clean the rim properly, and I only used one coat of paint. I also didn't put any clear coat on it either but like I said, this was a case of I was bored and had all the stuff to do this so i could help someone shine up there rims.

have a question, if i take the jug in and have it honed, just to clean it up a bet since it has been in my room for a couple weeks, would a ball hone clean it up enough? or should i look into getting it bored out to 67.00mm or .40 over.

and what exactly is a ball hone?

New to Blaster Forum the wife and I just purchased 2, 2002 Blasters for $2000.00 we went for a ride last week and the bikes run great we are totally hooked can't wait to go again

depends on how bad the cylinder is, if its scared and you can catch a finger nail in the straches then you will need to bore it, tbh if it hasn't been sitting that long I would just run it. Also a ball hone is a hone that has a bunch of balls in the shape of a cylinder.

its hasnt been ran in 2 years, and its been apart for 3 weeks and its gong to sit for about 3 more weeks, i was going to have it done right before i put it back together

Well, I sold some things and I'm waiting for the money, when I get it all I should have enough to buy the rebuild and have the jug honed. I'm really going to need help with jetting it tho, I don't have a clue what I'm doing when it comes to that. I guess I'll be reading a lot of posts to see if I can figure it out...lolI:I

well, I ordered the Vitos Allen head set for the clutch cover and stator cover, and new bolts for the crank case. I also picked up trans fluid and some Motorex Power Clean to clean the inside of the crank case out with before I put it all back together. Its rubber, plastic and paint safe so it wont eat the oil seals out.

I am buying The topend rebuild tomorrow on EGAY for $106. I should have it running buy next weekend...Depending on how fast the shipping is on the rebuild kit. The bolts will be here on Monday or Tuesday.I:I

I bought the rebuild kit, it should be here Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm going to take the jug in Monday and have it ball honed and then get it together. I am getting really excited.:D

Total cost of my Blaster is up to $175. Not a bad deal for a blown piston and every screw stripped out in the lower end!

Just my luck! The crank case broke on the right side just behind the kick starter! Don't know if its fixable yet! To busy throwing tools and cussing myself out to look!X(

I'm going to sell it! and buy a shee! i found one for $2100 close to my house! I'll just buy that when i get my Check! It's already put together and runs! don't have to worry about dumping a bunch of money into it and then have something like this happen again!

MAN I'M SO P***ED!
