i have a stock 02 blaster. I recently installed an FMF Fatty w/ Powercore II Silencer. I changed my main jet to a 270. I am wondering if this is too rich because around the silencer is this oily black substance. I am not sure if it is oils from the pipe becuase it is new or that it is my gas and oil mixture. Is this a sign I need a smaller jet?

yea thats seems a bit much for just a pipe .. try a 240,250 main ... did u try pulling the air box lid see if it got any better ?..

I have holes drilled in it already. If its running too rich is there anything very damaging that can happen or should it be fine?

oh thats kinda a relief because I knew it was dangerous for your engine if it ran lean but I am glad nothing really bad can happen about running rich. FMF recommends a 260 jet but i tried 2 yamaha stores and they said I would need to order one so i said screw it and got the 270. I'm gunna have to deside what i'm gunna do. There isn't a massive amount of oil, it really only appears when I'm going in a faster gear like 4th. I'll keep and eye on it and if I notice my pluggs going fast i'll change the jet. The bike seems to run great thou, starts right up and no boggin.
