I just replaced my crank seal and got everything back together started it up and I have no clutch. The lever is very limp. I can put it in gear and it wont move. Any ideas? Im lost I put everything back together the way I took it out.

Sometimes when you bolt on your pressure plate, the clutch rod gets uncentered in the slot behind the pressure plate. This causes the clutch to feel like it's not grabbing. Pull the clutch cover and take off your pressure plate and make sure you line up the arrows on your pressure plate before you bolt it down. The piece I'm referring to can be seen in the center of the clutch in the picture below.

Yea i just changed my seals and had the same problem.I had to take the clutch cover back off cuz i didnt have the mark on the presure plate lined up so it didnt go in all the way.

Ok i got the clutch prob figured out but I have another problem. It smokes more than it did before. Is the crank seal supposed to be flush with the case or a little above?
Im about to take it to get fixed.

you put that coupling (or whatever you call it) the piece that goes over the crankshaft and slides between the crank shaft and the seal. its about 3/4" wide and is thick and flat. if you dont put that on, the seals no sealing on anything.

im sure you did. kinda hard to miss but just making sure.

When I drove mine in, I remember it was not flush. I also worrried if it was right but no leaks with my motor. Did you put the bumpy side of the seal facing the crank?

Well Im off to the dealer to get another crank seal. So the side with the writing goes towards the piston? I wanna make sure so I don't have to take all this apart again. Also should I lube the seal or just put it in?

I can't remember which side had the writing bro. Maybe ask someone at the dealer or hopefully someone here will chime in a confirm this for ya.

My opinion on the lubing is only lube the part that contacts the crank. Don't lube the outer edges that contact the case. I like the outer edges dry so it's harder to blow it out.

Sorry to bring up a old thread, but are you supposed to use any type of sealant on the outer edge of the seal when you drive it in or do you just put it in dry?

i just replaced one on my yz and on that bike, the bumpy side went out away fron the crank..i put a thin layer of loctite around the outside to make it slide in easy and seal good....the bumpy side is the only side you can really tap on to get it in..tapping on the other side may cause you damage to the new seal...im not realyl sure if it %100 matters which side is out, but the dealer says bumpy side away fron crank....did you damage teh seal putting it in, kinda sounds like maybe...sorry to tel lya that, i know it sucks when that sh*t hapepns..my seal goes flush with outside of case also..but like i said, this is on a yz, not a blaster
