I have a Yamaha Blaster with pro circuit exhaust and 304 silencer with v force 3 reeds and a brand new 30mm Mikuni carb and a brand new top end(complete stock engine no boring). It ran for a good 2 hours but went through a couple plugs and i put it away and it hasn't started since then, if i let it sit for a day or 2 and try and kick it, it will attempt to start one time, so me and my friend tried pull starting it with his quad. It will only pull start in 3rd gear and up at higher rpms and it is real boggy and the faster i went the better it got once we stopped it idled for awhile i turned it off started it again and it would idle for a minute and hasn't started since. The carb has a brand new filter that clamps on to the back. I have the block off kit installed and i premix 32:1 and i put in a new br8es spark plug. I took it to a shop and they said it has great compression and spark. They said the carb is to big for the blaster so they put the stock carb back on and it still didn't start. The jetting that was in the 30mm carb when it worked was a 280 i tried 290, 270, and a 240 and i cannot get the quad to start. I live in the thumb of michigan and its about 10-30 degrees fahrenhiet what jetting sizes should i try? Or could it be a whole different problem wrong with my bike? The one shop i did take it too did try and check the crank seal to see if it was bad but could not get the flywheel off no matter how hard he tried.

Here is the specs of both carbs
Mikuni VM30-83 Round Slide Single Carburetor:Sizemm:30mm Main Jet: 250 Pilot Jet: 40 Needle Jet: P-5(159) Jet Needle: 6F5 Throttle Valve: 2.5 MainAirJet:2.0(BS30/97) Needle Valve: 3.3

and here is the stock carb specs:Size:26mm Main Jet:240 (for winter) pilot jet:32.5 needle jet:p-6 (345) jet needle:5j22. Now is there something on the 30mm carb that would cause my blaster not to run? and also 2 blow up 3 times?

Please help me. I bought this thing for 700 and i have put 1000 into it almost just in repairs.

did you do a break-in process? if not you are going to be spending time with another rebuild in the future sooner than you normally would..

turn your air pilot screw all the way in, and back it out 1.5 turns and fine tune it from there click by click

get a fresh tank of gas, check to see if you have adquate spark, and also make sure that you have the gas turned on... cuz that would be just embarassing if you didn't.. i've done that b4...

now.. your flywheel should come off with a flywheel puller..that doesn't sound good that it won't come off...

I never got the chance to do the break in process. I got it back from the shop drove around on it for an hour being easy on it and let it rest for a few min then played with it for another hour being easy on it, then i park it and went to ride it a few days later and it would not start. It has great spark and compression and the gas was on. I took my bike to a profressional shop and they could not get the flywheel off with any of their tools and im sure they have a flywheel puller. They said it has spun or sumthin like that and has welded itself on. Now Im wondering could that cause my bike not to start? I have tried eveything else i dunno what to do.

that could be causing problems if its welding itsself... and YOU GOTTA DO A BREAKIN

idk.. go have your flywheel checked out...b/c they should come of easily with a flywheel puller, and if its bonded like that... could cause you problems down the road too..

so if your key broke in the flywheel and it spun it could be seized on b/c of that. still it should pop off w/ some heat and puller. if not u may have 2 cut it off. chances are if you have good compression and spark and fuel you have a timing issue. so do you have a wet plug after kicking it over for a bit? make sure that you are getting fuel into the cylider. also if you want you can try to start it w/ starter fluid to see if it tries to fire. if not go after timing. you may just have 2 cut the magneto off and replace it. just because you have spark doesn't mean it is at the right time in the firing cycle.

Yeah the plug does get a little wet after a few kicks. Yeah me and a friend tried starting fluid multiple times and the only time the engine attempts to start is on the first kick. After that it doesn't wanna start at all.

Ok update on my bike. I took the bike to another shop to look at it and the reason why the flywheel wont come off is the threads in it are stripped out so you can't get the flywheel puller on it, so the key is still intact. So any suggestions on how to get the flywheel off? If my timing is off what do i need to replace the flywheel and stator?
