My cousin rode his blaster to a frineds. When he went to leave it wouldn't fire. A month later he took a trailer to go get it. It started this time. So he put it gear and went to leave, but instead of going forwards it went backwards. We found out that it'll wind out and go into all 6 gears perfect, but only backwards. What's wrong with it and how can we fix this problem?

I appreciate it, and if I didn't live at Wappapello, Missouri you would have just made $75 for sure. but it's too far away

haha I was just kidding. Pull of the left side cover and make sure the flywheel key is still in tact. Sounds like it has sheared off. You have to pull the flyweel.

I don't understand how that can happen with out you knowing by the pain. What I mein my that is when your kicking it the motor is going one way then when it fires out of time that bad to run in reverse the kick starter would kick back and try to break your ankle

The kick starter is on a ratchet type setup, its not gonna kick back at ya.

But yeah sounds like a Flywheel key issue for sure. Order a Flywheel puller from Dennis Kirk or Rocky mountain ATV or Ebay for about $10, then order a Flywheel key from Yahmaha, or someplace online like BikeBandit or Service Honda.

its your woodruff key on the flywheel side crankshaft. when it shears it makes the tranny go backwards. they are cheap . go to the hardware store and get one. you are going to need special tools to replace it, even though its a 50 cent part
