help me and a buddy

I'm sure you didn't do this but I did, so I'll toss it in for laughs. I put a wadded up paper towel in the exhaust port so crap wouldn't get in the cylinder while I was workin on stuff. Guess it wuz in far enough I didn't notice it when I put the pipe on. Caused some weird performance issues! It would wander round the expansion chamber and randomly plug things up under load.. Tried 3 carbs, another CDI, timing change, another leak down and figured I'd really screwed up the porting before I figured it out....LOL...No one else would admit this...burp

When common sense doesn't work, it might not be common, or sensible :)

lol.i have forgotten to take my exhuast plug out and wonder why mine wouldnt start.i was like wtf it just ran yesterday

thats nothin, when i rebuilt my last blaster my brother was helping me so i was rushin a little and put the piston in backwards. it idles just fine but i couldnt get it to rev out very much. got lucky and didnt break anything, but i made it through the first 3 heat cycles on break in before i noticed.

Something is keeping this from getting into the power. I would start with the pipe and silencer. Make sure some ambitious rodent didn't decide to build a condo in it. If the pipe is clear, try to run it with no silencer. Packing could be goop. If that doesn't do it, ,check compression. Once you clear the top end, start checking wires. Look for rusted connections, broken wires and bad grounds. If the frame has fresh paint, make sure the paint was removed where the coil and grounds mount to the frame ( seen this 1,000,000 times ). Next, grab a meter and check all of the switches and safety devices. I had a Banshee in the shop yesterday that would start and idle great but the motor would not rev. Turned out to be the E brake switch. Check the coil, CDI and plug cap / wire with your meter. When you clear all of this, remove the flywheel. Check for a bad key, broken magnets, broken wires or a timing issue. Still no luck, do a vacuum test on the engine. I think you've spent enough time with the carb so as long as you've cleaned it properly ( soak in carb clean for 30 minutes, rinse and blow dry ) and adjusted everything you can eliminate that as a problem. Make sure you installed the brass washer under the main jet. Seen this many times also. If none of this solves the problem, empty the contents of the fuel tank over the quad, stand back and toss a match.

Good Luck

I:I that is a cures all for every problem

Leave the gas cap loose and run it, sometime stupid things like lack of venting will have you chasing your tail.

as stated something could be breaking down in the electrical system.
