My friend acquired someone else's project and we're trying to get it tuned.

240 Big Bore, aftermarket crank and rod.
Stock Reeds
Stock Carb
310 Main
No Airbox Lid with K&N
Full DG Exhaust

I've never had a 240 kit so I'm not sure where to start. It cranks perfectly and idles great. It won't rev all the way thru the gears. It pops sometimes. The plug looks lean even with the 310 main. We're thinking of trying a 330 today. (He was also given a really big Keihn carb with it also. We havent tried it yet. I really know nothing about a Keihn.)

Any suggestions on where to start?

Id try changing the carb to the keihn. Ive never had a stock carb on mine so I cant say for sure but I hear they are barely enough to feed the stock cylinder
also remember that kehin rates their jets differently than mikuini so the numbers wont be even close to he same. hope that helps. also unless its going to be riden strictly on sand or asphault id ditch the K&N for a foam filter the K&N sucks to much dust through
not that my tuning will be close to yours but you never know I run a 320 main
also make sure the filter is good and clean I know when mine gets dirty it wont rev out

Not sure what 240 kit is in it. The crank said "PC" on it.

A 390! Wow. The main jet in the Keihn is 162. Is that big or small for a Keihn? How do the Keihn jets go up? By 10's or 1's?
