have you seen this?

That was total BS. I know just the person to talk to about having something done about this. It pays to have friends in high places.

I live behind a school , so noise is always going on , when summer is in , my neighborhood is generally peacefull , until they remodeled the school and put the basketball court on the backside , right across the street from my house . It used to face the busy main 6th avenue , where there was no residential homes . The 1st summer it drove me nuts , people out there until 2 am , cars with music pounding , garbage everywhere and I had it , so I called about 50 times complaining , and still never got anywhere . So I took matters into my own hands , I made plywood hoop " plugs " it was 2 pieces i sandwiched over the rim and bolted together in 4 spots . sure enough that night the crowds rolled in and then left . It was the first decent nights sleep I had in months . Its gotten better , but I'm looking forward to selling the house and moving . I can see the persons point , if the noise goes on all night its disrespectfull to others .if its just because of aesthetics , then really you have 2 choices don't look at it , or move elsewhere .

i see where your coming from, but these are just kids personal hoops, not school hoops, i doubt all of those were the hangout, where everybody gets all noisy, its real bullshit what that lady did, f*cking retards like her are killing our world

The original lady that filed a complaint would regret doing that if that happened to me. I'd make her life a living hell without any threats of violence or damaging her property. If I were the people in the video I'd get the pole back and place it back a few feet on the edge of their property , that way del dot couldn't remove it. BTW nice use of manpower, I mean there aren't any sh*tty roads that they could be fixing or anything ( sarcasm )

Was a complaint actually filed in the DelDOT case? To my knowledge, they were just removing the poles because they were near the streets which is more than likely against the law. However, it is a bit sour since it's in a suburban cul de sac. All in all, still the law.

Really, them removing them doesn't rub me wrong all that much. It's their methodology in removing them and deliberately lying to the home owners that is irritating and will more than likely lead to lawsuits that the home owners will win although at a cost and more than likely a loss for them.

EDIT: I realized after watching the vid again, that somebody did file a complaint. I would watch all this with a :D on my face as they tore out my pole. The smile directly pointed at the person that filed the complaint after a steady case of "hoodlums" raids the neighborhood and takes their rims, timing belt on their car, brake lines start popping off, and windows start breaking inexplicably. How did the mail stop showing up? Damn those "hoodlums". :D

that's bullshit. people need to learn to speak up when something is bullshit.

That's the way it used to be, but now people are so beat down. time to change.

I think they spoke up pretty well. On top of that, the video has been mirrors a thousand times over and the original has over 200K views in just 3 days.

I just saw this comment under the video. :D

"if this was a nigger hood they WOULD NEVER HAVE TOUCHED IT ."

HAHA that's so true. If I was a DelDOT worker and they gave me an assignment to go to the hood and take down the "church" in the hood, I would look for another job. Damn......imagine the suicidal slaughter that would be. :D

Wait a darn minute, she said "you can choose to have the pole dropped in your driveway but most people aren't" and then later in the video said "you cannot keep the pole, it has to go with us".

Seems to me like someone's telling stories again...

It also seems to me like the person who gave the go ahead to remove the poles while the case was still "open" meaning the homeowner and his "representative" are still in communication with DeDOT needs to have his head examined...

It's not the woman at the end of the block who is at fault although, honestly, flaming bags of poop would not be out of the question... it's the state DOT worker and state legislature representative who crafted and wrote the right of way rules who also need to have their heads examined.

If it's a concern that the backetball goal is too close to the road, the DOT should forcibly remove the goal and courteously relocate it back the proper amount.

The right way to do it is on a case-by-case basis. Obviously, in a cul-de-sac the right of way rules don't matter like they do on a 4 lane highway... there aren't any oversized transport loads going down there... there's no earth moving equipment going through that neighborhood. There's no reason to remove (note, I did not say relocate) basketball goals through-out the neighborhood.

If I was him I would demand the state groom the "right-of-way" from now on. I would never mow or clean that part of the yard ever again and I would send a DAILY letter all throughout the summer to my state representatives including a copy of the video (in case they wonder why I'm being a pain in their side) asking them to please send the DeDOT by to take care of "their" part of the road.

The right of way rules probably apply to any and all city streets just because it's easier to do and less ambiguity. They still have things like garbage trucks to think of.

Even so, it's just kind of "meh". All the burbs around Columbus, have basketball poles in their subdivisions.

The relocate the problem goals.

It's simply "easier" to remove them instead of working with the residents to relocate. It's also lazy and rude... something most DOT's know alot about (not just DeDOT)
