Hey everybody, Im going to be a Blaster owner by probably this time next week. Now I know it wont be long before I start tinkering on it. So I was wondering what would be a good engine set-up (as in bore size, port type, carb size, etc). Could I get around 30 hp on 93 octane?? Ive searched on it but havent come up with anything.
Thanks

Get a 30mm carb and better air filter, a right side pipe and bump up the compression a little. This will liven up the bike.

30 hp on pump gas is a good stretch.

That sounds like a good setup to start with. Thanks.
On average what can these things do with 93?

Yeah! I just got it yesterday! Its a fun little ride but I got a long way to go to get it how I want it... Its got a DG pipe and silencer but I dont think thats a whole lot better than stock after I looked it up. I'll probably ditch that and go with a F7 or Lrd. I'll still notice a big difference by doing this right??

what makes a right side pipe any better then a left side?

New pipe it is then.. Im also thinking about the Dynoport pipes after seeing 245stroker's Blaster. Which one is that? The big volume or the mid-top pipe?

this is my LRD pipe. the whole kit i think is $350 not exactly sure though. It seems to be good for top end, not much low end from my experience so far.

Mid-top is more what Im looking for. I'll be mostly riding it on wide open trails and dirt roads, not too much tight stuff for it right now. That lrd pipe looks good too yodaman. Didnt they change the design of those pipes or something?
Also sometime I'll probably get flotek to port my cylinder. Will the dune port job be best for what Im looking for?

yeah, dune port should be good, but talk to flowtek, he'll treat you good. I run the high volume dynoport and I love it.

How about Wiked Motorsports pipes? They're just Power pros too, right?
Also after the port job I guess I could probably run something bigger than a 30mm carb. What would be a good size then? Something like a 33 or 34, maybe even 35?

RJATV.com sells the comlete plated blaster power pros pipes for the best price .its proven to me to be the best mid-top blaster pipe on the market

Dang, thats a good price on that pipe. Thanks for pointing that out Flotek. I:I
Hey, I'll probably be getting in touch with you about the dune port in the next couple of months. I just got to get a few odds and ends straight before I do some serious work.

Okay, so a 33-35 is alright. I might as well get a 35 and let it breathe.B-)

Thanks for another good website Stryder. I thought about reeds too. How often should they be replaced anyway?? Mines an 01 and I doubt they ever been changed.

Okay, after getting some seat time on my Blaster Im kind of having second thoughts on where Im wanting to make power at. Ive been riding thru trails and now I think I might do Xc with it. Its so light and nimble, with a good suspension and a bit more power it would be tough to beat. Im thinking now about a strong mid w/o loosing too much bottom. The series I race in Ga (SORCS) doesn't have too many tight tracks so a lil more top will be good also. Most of the time Im strolling along on my 400ex around top of 2nd or 3rd gear, that'll kinda give you an idea of how fast were going.
Mx port will be better for this right?
Also Im looking at a 28mm PWK carb.. Will this be a good gain for what Im looking for??
