go kart idea

soo, my friend has a little roadster kart with a 8hp techsumeh engine in it, its blown. but anyways it has a sprocket on the left side, just like a blaster. i was thinking about putting a blaster engine in it, and making a suicide style shifter for it. but what would i need to make the blaster engine run?, besides a carb, exhaust, and gas tank

You would also need tthe wiring harness off the blaster.

That would actually be an easy swap. I would get you a wiring diagram as see what all is necessary as far as wiring is concerned. After that you will need to figure out how to mount the things you have already listed above IE. Gas tank, exhaust,and whatever wiring you may need. I have often considered the swap,but never had the spare parts lying around. Things that need to be on your mind as well should be better stopping power, because i have had alot of gocarts in my time,and can say for sure that no gocart that came with a 8hp engine is gunna have the "WO" to shut that blaster power down. If you do it tho please do a buildup because i am VERY interested in the outcome.

do you think maybe a smaller engine would be good? like a kx 80? or a kx 60? it already has a banshee setup for rear brakes!, he did a mod and just put in a regular pedal and got some longer hydro lines

yea,i built a KDX 80 powered cart and that thing would FLY !! it was alot of fun and not "to much" power if there is such a thing.

i wanna stay with 2 stroke, easier to work on, unless im wrong about the kdx's being 4 stroke?

Most karts mount the fuel tank on the floor pan between your legs so you'll probably need a fuel pump. No biggie.

i reccomend throwing a port job on that motor and some 14/25 gearing and u need an air box as well.

he dont need an air box just run a filter right off the carb.. iv thought about this before run a clutch pedal shift it with your hand put a blaster axle on it and make like a shifter cart frame but go for it take some pictures

u dont have enough space for a clutch pedal. u need a hand clutch. i gotta shifter kart. trust me lol hand shifter next to the steering wheel is most ideal
