ok i have stock gearing right now but was just wondering what is the real difference between 12/40 or 14/38??? it sounds about the same doesnt it? and if i go with 14/40 would i still be able to climb big sand hills and yet still be able to keep up with 125 dirt bikes??? cuz i usualy get far behind them and i was wondering if it would make a bnig difference if i got a 14 tooth.
Thanks

yes to move from a 12 to 14 would make a huge difference. but you have to have the hp to gain from it. right now i have a stock 13 tooth and i very rarely use 1st gear its way too low. but i have a bit of engine work done.u are gonna need more than gears to keep up with a 125 2 stroke bike. when you are in 6th gear top speed does it feel like if you had another you could use it? if so move up a tooth size. you will notice a difference in one tooth

yeah it seems like im in 6th and about half throttle and it doesnt have much. if it only had one more gear.lol but yeah its a cheap mod so il prob go wit a 14 tooth. Thank ya

i just upgraded to a 14 from the stock 13 and it makes quite the difference because i had smaller than stock rear tires so now it revs out longer, more like stock. im going with a 38 rear because im puting in my new 240 kit. will have a higher top speed but the more power will equal out losing low end so its perfect. that might have helped a bit.

If you're not close to revving out in 6th gear now i wouldn't put a taller gear set on. If the motor as it is now doesn't have the power to rev out your current gearing you won't gain any speed (acceleration or top speed) by adding teeth to the front sprocket.

in 6th gear at half throttle its reving pretty damn high. i dont want to put it at full throttle for to long so i think im just going to get a 14 tooth and a new o ring chain.

I just bought a 12 tooth sprocket. Do I have to change the rear sprocket and get a new chain. I just got a +3 swingarm and chain off ebay. I dont know anything about the chain. I am hopin to be able to use all of these parts together. Thanks,
