I just got new chain, front and rear sprockets. For the front sprocket, which was does it go on. There's a flat side and also a side with a raised circle? which one faces the outside of the vehicle? I tried to look it up in the schematics but they don't have the front sprocket on any of the drawings.

yeah definately, raised goes away from motor, so the sprocket sets closer to the motor, just had my motor redone a few months back, and started hearing my chain rubbin somethin when the suspension was down, and noticed some shiny spots on my chain, and got to lookin and sho-nuf,
chain was rubbin where the lower chain roller mounts, prolly woulda cut thru if i didnt catch it, and this was how a yamaha dealer sent it back to me, get it right or troubles will be soon ahead
