So i had some leftover aluminum from my air scoops layin around and was sure i could do somethin with it. So what i decided to do was make a sort of frame guard behind the bumper. I have seen the same thing done on the bumper, bot not behind.

Heres how I did it:

1. The sheet of aluminum I used was 12x8. You can get this at home depot or other hardware stores.

2. To mount it to the bottome of the frame i used the bumper bolt holes. These where 3-1/4" apart. So i found the center of the 8" width (4" obvi), and went out 1-5/8" on each side.

3. I then drilled to holes along this line, which was just under an inch from the end of the sheet. If i were to do it again i would do 1/2".

4. On the top I also decided to use the bumper mount. To do this i cut a tab in the center 1.5" deep and 2.5" wide. DO NOT CUT THIS TAB OFF!!!!

5. I bent the tab so it would go on the mount and mounted it with the bolts. I did not put the bumper on at this point cause i was just sizing it up.

6. With a little trimming and hammering, I bent the aluminum around the bars and made it as square as possible.

7. I then took the bolts of an mounted the bumper. This surprisingly was the hardest part. The aluminum was gettin in the way of the bolts so some more drilling was needed.

Extra tips: I used shears for the cutting, they worked alright but they kinda bent as they cut so i need to bend them back to flat. Where gloves, the stuff I used cut me a couple of times. Be creative, it doesn't have to look exactly like mine, make it your own, I am just throwin the idea out there

This is how it turned out. What do you think?

I know there are imperfections but i did this in about 20 minutes to kill time and i turned out liking it, might make a perfect one soon :)I:I

The only thing I'd change is either drilling some holes in it or making some slots of some kind to let some air through to help cool the engine. Its a good idea though, the dg ones are expensive for what they are

Yeh like i said i whipped it up quick, and decided to make a DIY for sh*ts and gigs. I didn't know they actually exsisted. That was a stubborn piece of aluminum so it didn't bend well as you can see in the pics its a little wavy. Might drill some holes, and answering underwaterboy's question of use, i dont know if there really is one, just thought it might add a look.

oh ok just asking, sometimes the wierdest things can effect stuff. ohter than that it would look nice if you cut a design in it and lit it up with led's like freek did to the stator covers.

that gives me an idea , what about a intake Horn then route some duct hose and make a mount so it channeled the air directly to the cylinder head , so you always had a direct blast of air hitting it . Instead of the air just bouncing around in the frame rails . Hmmmm food for thought .
