i just recently baught a 2000 blaster. when i baught it for $100 the told me the carb was messed up. so when i got it home and started tinkering with i did a compression test and it came back with nothing. so i had it bored and used a wsm topend rebuild kit. when i put it back together it started first kick, but i couldn't get the idle right and it was backfiring and sh*t like that. so please i coulde use some advice

Sound like you have a timing issue. Take off the stator side cover and check to see if you sheared the key way.

And welcome to BF bro good to have another new member.

Welcome from me, too! Hope we can get you running again soon. It sounds like your problem has to do with the ignition timing, like fioz said. Pull that flywheel (the puller tool only costs about $ 15.00) and have a look at the key. A key that's damaged or missing will prevent the coil from firing the plug at the proper moment. Backfiring, 'kicking-back', and a lack of a steady idle are all symptoms of ignition timing gone awry.

If the flywheel key is OK, take off your stator plate and look at the crankshaft seal in there. An air leak, caused by a bad seal, will often prevent a Blasty from idling properly.

Needless to say, if you haven't already been through your carburetor and given it a thorough cleaning, do it now. Also, unbolt the fuel petcock from the tank and be sure that the screens in there aren't clogged. I:I

man braaaptor has it covered again lol. follow those directions, pay special attention to the pilot when you pull the carb apart.

thanx everybody for the help. tomorrow i shoulde be in the shop after work and hopefully i can figure something out then. it is pretty much stock other than a dg silincer and a moose air filter. i wonder what woulde of caused it to blow up in the first place, coulde it be something to do with the timing like you suggested. the oiler works atleast for now. once i get it running i am gonna do away with it. can i use my stock throttle cable when i get ride of the tors device. also what about a cap. i am also looking for the stock skid plate that goes under the carrier when i baught the blaster it was m i a

For the T.O.R.S system it varies by model year I think. My 89 had this huge mechinism on top of the carb. And I know other guys where differant. There are two ways you can remove the T.O.R.S. system, buy a T.O.R.S removale kit (My suggestion personally) but you can just disconnect everything and leave it all intact. I dont know all the details of this way IMO you should just do things right the first time!!!!!!!!!!!!

For you still running oil injection I suggest you remove that also. If it fails you will blow the top end again.

Here is the best explanation of removing the T.O.R.S. IMO
T.O.R.S. Removal - E2S
