hey guys...im looking to rebuild my blaster just to make sure everything is clean/lubed/tight...and i was planning on hitting it with some paint once i had it all taken apart. It is mostly black now...with some red showing through....and then some factory silver showing through under that lol...so i know it has 3 layers of paint on it. I know some of you guys have stripped/repainted your frames, so what is the best way to get the old crappy paint off? right now im leaning towards some sort of chemical stipper or aircraft remover with some wire brush/sandpaper thrown in on the tough spots. Any input is appreciated. thanks

I would get some aircraft paint stripper. Will practically make the paint fall off. Just don't pour it in a plastic cup like I did, next thing I know my cup is gone lol.

The stripperes will work with elbow grease, but then you got to get that chemcial rinsed out before you can prep for paint. Or a better option would be to take it to a shop that offers sandblasting, beadblasting, or it can even be removed with a dry ice application.

Post pics up if you going to use the strippers though

ive had several frames blasted for me for $40 around here, so much easier then any chemical based strippers...

Yea I agree, I have access to a smaller sandblaster for just about everthing other than my frame. But I think when I take mine down to the frame Im just going to bite the cost.

Regal its hard for me to type this when your avatar is dancing for me. lol

nah, Im from IL but Im right over the border. im south of the kankakee area. so are you from lafeyette or somewhere in newton county? i have not been to attica yet but we are going this summer for sure, probably some week in May. ive never heard of haspin? good riding there?

Nah Haspin is a mudd pit that isn't worth the time unless you catch it right after they groom it, but that only happens once a year. Its in the town of Laurel on the eastern side of the state. Attica is a blast for all of its different riding environments. I live real close to New Winchester, IN

ok cool, you're about 3hrs from me but ive got family that lives in INDY. perhaps maybe we can meet up in attica when we go, then a familiar can show me around the trails :)

I am just going to pay $250 and have it stripped, and powder coated. For the amount of time and work involved. Seems like the best deal to me.

I just got my frame back. I took all the parts off of it and dropped it off at the pc'ers. They sandblasted it and then pc'ed it for $175. pc'ing will last a heck of alot longer then paint too.

definitely and ill sandblast and PC frames for $160 around here if anyone is interested...

Where you at regal. That's definitely better than the $250 I was quoted. I think they kinda price gouge around here, because there aren't many around doing it.
