Muriatic acid will remove the aluminum that transferred from the piston to the cylinder wall. This is very dangerous process. Since it sounds like you've never done this before, Id take it to a shop and have it bored.

If you have metal shavings in the crank and lower rod bearing, there is no sure fire way to remove them, short of removing the rod and replacing the lower bearing. Again, it's going to a shop for this process.

Something like this happens to me but I didn't have the money to do it the proper way so I just put magnet in the bottom end got all the big pieces out and turned the crank to see if it rotates smoothly with no scratches and run 3 bottles of oil thru it, runs fine still runs good no problems, but if you have the time and money get it done the proper way, which I will be doing this winter

it rotates fine, i just want to get any little shavings out of the case, i think i will just run a few quarts through it and try to get it all out i dont really want to open the case.

how did a magnet get any aluminum out of the bottom of your motor ? aluminum is non-ferrous and wont stick to a magnet.

steel is harder then aluminum, so how did parts of the steel sleeve get down in the crank ? If you stick a magnet down there and you get stuff out, Id be tearing it apart and replacing that rod right now, youve got real problems.

as easy as it is to split the cases id go ahead and spend the little bit of time it takes to do it right you already got the jug off.

if you have shavings in the bottom go ahead and just replace the bearrings its common sense.anything worth doing is worth doing right.

im probably gonna get it but i flipped the motor upside down and sprayed a water hose into the bottom end for about 5 minutes. Then i flipped it right side up and coated the whole bottom end in wd-40(water displacement #40). Then i poured aome of the oil i use to mix in the bottom end and rotated the crank to coat the bearings and crank. worked out fine for me.
