Got you in here now sucker muahahaha. Get ready for the nightmare I call properly jet your carb and put a new reed cage on idiot! Lol!
Ok so a few weeks ago I jetted my carb from the 230 to a 250. Nice smooth good throttle response bla bla bla. So I get a Boyesson cage and reeds from Cmh156 and put those in. Now it'll start but is real boggy. So I was told I was too rich go back to the 230 so I do that and it starts but is still not sounding 100% when running and after a minute of running I put it in first and it dies.
So now I take the carb out figure its pretty dirty take one of the extras I have that's clean and put the 250 in it and nothing. Change the plug (Ngk B8ES) and see the contact on my plug is loose and the wires inside are kinda gay. Said screw it and changed the coil and plug since I have the parts and have the coil and plug wire new (yay something went my way hooray whoopty sh*t lol).
So now I say screw it and take everything off again and put the stock cage and reeds back on with the 250 like I had it to begin with. Kicker is messed up with the little spring inside so it just flops out (can't get the kicker off either if you have any ideas). so I roll start it. Still the same thing. Starts but real boggy then cuts off. So using the powers of deduction I've come to one of two conclusions and they're probably wrong but whatever you've read this far lol.
One my airscrew is weird or by some off chance I didn't adjust the right screw?
Two. When I got the work done to it last fall the place that put my stator in cracked a hole in the case where the cover/chain guard attaches to the case.. Was told not to get it wet and have done that but a few weeks ago I washed it and forgot about the hole. I'm sure water got in there and I'm sure it got on the stator or whatever but after the quad dried I rode it around and it was fine and before I started this jet/reed cage garbage it started. So could the stator have been damaged but still worked weeks afterward?
So sorry for the headaches and the problems but I blew my whole weekend on this and got to ride for 5mins while it was 70 and sunny out . This weekend is supposed to be the same and I don't want to be spending it on wrench time again.
