Fixing my 98 Blaster.... Need help!!

last i looked all the gears looked fine no wear marks, no chipped corners..... and yeh the basket and the big gear connected to the basket have a little play between them...

also i don't see how ther oil get from the clutch side over into the trans side? it looks like it's sealed.... is there an opening somewhere where the oil flow through to get the the other side?

im gonna do a couple oil flushes and see how the oil comes out...

looks alright i think...

O man look at that hairline crack in the counter balance gear, and you ve got gear oil all over the clutch? Must have leaked out of the transmission you better get that looked at!!:D

There are a few passages inbetween the tranmission gearbox and the clutch housing area and theres also bearings that arent sealed bearings, they let alot of fluid through when its spinning.

If your replacing your drain plug, get one or drill on for safety wire and safetywire it off to something to keep it from coming loose and falling out, Thats the only bolt that you have to worry about and it would be real easy.

Real easy
and damn good insurance from running the gearbox dry. which would be BAD NEWS!!!

Gear oils
dont use motor oil of any kind, (friction modifiers, detergents, there not gear oil
Book says like 10w40 or something, but thats 10w40 GEAR OIL not motor oil
Belden Pj1 stp any name if its the right type of lube

Someone on here suggested this and i was thinking the same thing, Automatic transmission fluid?? i guess if it was 10w40 ATF without extras????

If you ever changed your car oil you probably seen the hot weather/ cold weather chart for oil viscosity,

So you just have to pick a name you like and check your riding style

Just remembered something

Theres another drain plug , see the flange head bolt forward of the shifter rod to the left of and down from the sprocket, has some twisty wire wrapped behind it,

That may go all the way through on yours, it does on mine, i dont know if its the same size as the drain plug on bottom but it does let out gear oil when you take it out.

well got a new shorter drain plug, got my new clutch plates and springs, belray gear saver oil and now just waiting for the new pressure plate to come in... should be here next wednesday then hopefully all goes good with installation and how it runs...
