Fixing key cylinder?

Hey guys my first post here (and before everyone jumps down my throat I already tried the search function. Not my first time on forums) I got a 1998 blaster used in great condition, oil injector block off plate, no bends or cracks in the plastic and stock tires (still with tread so the thing wasn't really street ridden). My question is if there is a way to bypass the key lock cylinder, and how to possibly undo that bypass. I really would like to have the key functioning so you can't just jump on it and go. Also if someone could point me to the introductions forum if it exists that'd be great.

Thanks and I have reconnected those wires and it doesn't make a difference.. Is it possible that the cylinder could be broken itself

If you touch the 2 wires together and it dies, the key switch isn't working. Could be a wire broke off at the solder connection or could be dirt in the contacts. It can be taken apart and cleaned.
