well got to ride my bike finally on saturday for a short time. i replaced my crank seals and now it will run but it runs very rich. the plug fouls out after about ten seconds of it running. the plug is covered in 2 stroke mix that is for sure. with the intake off the carb is spitting gas out of the back, thought it might be a float problem but it measures to the correct stock measurement. could this be a reed problem? it has a slightly high idle and it will rev up fine. what do you all think??

nope. its stock jetting. everything is stock on the bike. it is running rich and spitting gas out of the back of the carb as if it is constantly fueling. thats why i thought maybe it would be a reed problem. should the reeds have a gap at all when they are just sitting there? when i pulled mine last week there was a slight gap on one of them.
one thing i forgot to mention is that it ran fairly well just a little boggy on the bottom end when i had 40:1 in it. I switched to 32:1 because i want to tune it to that since thats what im gonna run. the extra oil from that fouls the plug out now. i replaced the crank seals so i know its not tranny oil being burnt. it only smokes excess when i give it throttle. It bogged down and ran like hell with the 40:1 and now it runs the same until the plug fouls out with the 32:1. sorry for all the writing just wanted to save people from saying its my crank seals. something is making it suck excess fuel and run rich.
i know its not a 2 stroke but i had the same problem with my warrior (carb spitting gas) i cleaned the carb and put it back together and it did the same thing. it ran so i ignored it and i was riding up the river and the quad backfired and caught fire to my uni filter that was on the carb. i was able to get the filter off but i burnt the hell outta my hand and my seat lol
sounds like my reeds are shot! ill try flipping them and starting it but i remember last time i had the cage off one of them had a slight gap. so they should basically be sealed? makes sense. because that would mean gas could essentially be getting sucked in with very little vacuum. i figured it was the reeds because i know when a 4 stroke spits out gas its because the valve seats are bad and the compression stroke is pushin the gas outta the carb. makes sense. ill try flipping them but it sounds like i need to order reeds. are Boyeson super stock reeds a good economical reed? ive spent a lot getting this thing runnin and i need somethin economical to try.
where is your needle set at?? and take out ur main jet, and make sure its threaded in properly, and not cross threaded or loose?? do the same with the pilot jet..
