well, just did a test and found out i have a serious leak at the reed valve gasket... i was experiencing some hanging rpms so decided to check it out and glad i did before any more damage could be done from running hot... hopefully replacing the gasket will give me a few more months of riding because the rebuild was gonna happen this summer when i had some more money saved up...

You can replace those gaskets all you want and it still may not fix the leak. This is a common problem.Just use a little rtv on it and let it dry a bit then try the test again.I bet all your problems will be solved.I do not put one together without a thin layer of rtv.

Dont use RTV use.... the good stuff.
As a motorcycle mechanic for the past 20 years, I can tell you honestly RTV is the number one cause of temporary fix failures, most are fuel resistant not fuel proof.

Yamabond or Threebond 1211. these are the sealents your engine is originally put together with.
