Hello! I am new to the forum and need some help let me give you some backround. I bought this 2000 yamaha blaster on friday i got it at a steal $260 from a guy from work who needed the money to move so i picked it up friday afternoon and took it home and let it sit. So today (saturday) i ripped it apart scrubbed it down washed it off and painted it. So while i was tearing apart the motor the magneto bolt was backed off and it made a horrible like i dont want to said grinding (noise) but i could tell something was loose so i tightened it up but the magnets looked fine the cylinder walls were clean the piston was clean it has good compression. The carb looked clean (i didnt take it apart yet) and im getting a new spark plug tomorrow but can anybody tell me some other problem areas to look for and how to test them

should not have came loose make sure washer is there and torqued properly watch these videos it explains it all:)

make sure chain is tightened properly or it could crack the case then your screwed

leak test
compression test
check jets sizes in carb
float height
correct ngk b8es spark plug
and search around blaster forum for maintenance goodies:)

and take some aluminum foil and water to the exhaust header to shine it up lol
