I have a 98 blaster I rebuilt it 1 month ago and ride it often.i bought it 2 months ago and it ran ok the engine was making a ticking noise so I put new .20 over weisco forged piston and rings in it.and it ran great for 2 weeks.then the balance gear broke.so I just replaced that at the same time I replace clutch with new plates.and it has been running better then ever.then today I ride one lap around yard and there was no smoke coming out the exhaust .so I richend the carb to the max it already was almost richend all the way.so I thought the oil pump is going so no I premixed my oil 40:1 and still have oil in the injector.but also now the motor is making that same tick it did when I bought it.it still runs great also the tick is on when u let off the gas or when it idles.

Patience. Depending on how much needs to be fixed, it might take a bit...

First off, did you leak test when you put in the new piston?

Did you removed the oil injection properly?
Did you put a cap on the oil intake on the carb?

Have you removed the TORS?

What is your current bore?

How did you decide to put a .20 over piston in? Was it honed?

Perform a leak test, do not ride again until you do!

What current mods do you have?

What jet are you running?

Did you replace the crank seals?

Whats the compression??

It had a .20 over piston in before I bought it.and I honed the cylinder a little to make sure it smooth.and put new barring and piston and rings in it.the piston could move forward and back a little before I rebuilt it.the new piston didn't move.also I don't no how to check compression.or leak test.yes tors was removed before I bought it.and I still have the oil injection going didn't remove still have oil in it but I'm premixing on top of that.and jetting idk if has been jetted or not.i bought this 4 wheeler told it was all build up bore.60 over and everything but it wasn't :(

Do not mix the gas with the oil injection installed.

Use the search option to find leak testing things. Compression test you just need to rent a comp tester from auto parts store, take off carb and put on the tester

Drain all the premixed gas from the tank and refill with straight gas.

Adding oil to gas leans out the AFR and may cause detonation.

The ticking may just be the piston being destroyed by heat caused by a lean mix.
