Are the engine side covers that close the clutch and flywheel plastic or metal? I want to take the paint off (if metal) and make it look like a shiny polished metal. I havn't bothered feeling the covers so would like to see what it is. I am using Solder Seal "Engine Brite" to make my block look polished.

hardware store sells all of that. any sort of paint stripper will work. the stator cover is plastic, clutch cover is aluminum, and the injection cover is plastic. you could paint them if you wanted.....or get polished metal ones.

I had an idea of taking a piece of stainless steel sheet metal and tracing the oil injection ocer and then cutting it to make it fit

airplane paint stripper.. and sand it with everything from 500 to 1500+ wet then polish with a wheel or mothers and it will look like mine.

Now THAT is some free time.
You have some serious commitment! I could not make it through that.
