engine running issues????????

hi there all new here, just wondering if anyone might have an idea as to whats causing my problem. basically my piston on my blaster discintergrated and ive just replaced everything with a new vito's 240 big bore kit, new small end bearing, gudgeon pin. ive just ran it up and it seems to idle ok but when you try and ride it it peters out and you have to full throttle it to try and keep it moving?????????????? its like a really bad missfire just as your coming on to the power band but it wont go any further bearing in mind i am running it in but cant ride it at all like this! i had a similar problem on my old rs50 which turned out to be a blocked exhaust end can, so i removed it and it seemed better but takes ages to wrk through the missfire or suffocation to rev up?????? ive tried a 240 and 250 jet but nothing changed so put the standard 230 back in. its still got the standard carb and exhaust. i also tried moving the needle up 2 notches but still no different!!! also got a brand new plug in:) any ideas peeps? cheers i know its a bit vague.:">
 
what type of reeds?might have broken one, check em out, i had the same problem man, all it was, was a cracked reed, it f*cks everything up. and if its not them put the clip[ in the middle, 250 jet, air/fuel 1 1/2 turns out,

what mods you running?
 
cheers guys much appreciated, i shall try that tomoz and inspect the air filter, pretty sure thats ok tho. might go for a k and n type if you guys think its worth it? whats a decent exhaust upgrade to go for? theres nothin really going here in the uk lol. :)
 
oh yeah forgot to say that one of the reeds is a bit slack on the tip but it still ran much better when one cracked really bad before??? i shall replace them anyway just to be sure, dont know if they have to be different reeds or the cage has to be modified nows its a 240? cheers
 
wo wo man 230 is waaay to lean for a 240 bb... im not sure what to run but it would have to be over 300, didnt the vitos kit come with a jet kit and guide? for instance im using a 290 jet with my mods and i have a stock 200 bore
 
sh*t! i missed the 240 mention, start with a 300, what size carb you got on it? lrd exhaust is what i run and i love the sh*t out of it!!
 
its a standard carb, evrythings standard apart from the big bore kit! the local company i got it off said that the last one they done ran best on a standard 230 but i might need a next size up or 2? bearing in mind it is still a standard exhaust! im wondering if its blocked up as it did seem better with the silencer off but still deffo not right!! lol guess its a new exhaust for starters, whats the best reeds to get? do i need any other things like reed cage? its still a standard head if that changes anything?
 
stock head on a 240 cylinder? you sure its a vitos kit or was it just a vitos cylinder put into stock jug?
 
yeah thats what i was thinking, it must be just a overbore or if it is a 240 its just the sleeve because if it was a 240 vitos kit it has the head and all with it
 
yeah i found that out i was gonna buy one for 250 but like u said for the total cost you can get the whole bolt on kit
 
f**k sake, so the head could possibly be making contact with the piston? it does sound slightly knocky too be honest but nothing major, ive heard a ajp v8 cerbera engine knocking before from where another garage got the deck height wrong and when warm the pistons came into contact with the head, that was very distinctive! on the running side of the things one of the reeds on the tip is quite weak, soft, looks like its been burnt or something before!! could this cause my running issue or is this now looking at being a head off job? cheers
 
yes the lid was on, is it worth putting a k and n on but retaining the lower half of the airbox without a lid? il try running it without a lid on see if it makes any difference, really did sound like it was suffocating itself somewhere
 
first make sure its a 240 kit and not just bored out, secondly if it is bored out the suffocation is the incredibly small stock carb. a 240 BB kit usually comes after you buy a new pipe,silencer,reeds, and a bigger carb.
