New here - been searching this great community for some time and I'm a little overwhelmed with all the information available here.

I just picked up my first Blaster, my first 2 stroke as well. The motor is friend in this thing - the previous owner had the engine fail, took out the piston, sanded the jug and put it back together and had it fry again. I think the rings are melted into the piston :o

I'd like to get this thing up and running - not sure which direction to go. I'm thinking I can replace the jug, toss in a new piston and bolt the head on and go - right?

While I've got the engine apart - best bang for the buck upgrades to make?

Thanks,

Kyle

Welcome to the forum! Weres that guy live? I'd like to slap him around.. my god thats almost the stupidest thing I've heard..

anyways do you know what overbore the bore is at now? you can get the jug bored a size over, that will give you a fresh start, just get a new piston and your good to go.

As for upgrades you can have the head milled/ re-chambered, and the jug ported, thats the best bang for your buck.

welcome to the forum man.......lets see some pics

Thanks - I'll take some when I get home tonight. I'm mostly into the big 4x4 stuff right now, so I've got this little Blaster that looks like a ton of fun and I hate knowing nothing about it at all :-/

Here is my other toy -

the PO sound like a real bright guy sanding the cylinder and all.
holly sh*t batman are you putting your crawer wheels on the back of that!!!

you should find an old kx500 or cr500 engine to go in that dragster

Hehe - I might look for some larger tires for some more clearance and traction. It seems to have quite a bit of suspension travel - I plan on jumping this thing, but a 6'2" 300lbs I may have a fistacuff with gravity :P

hmmm jumping may not be a good idea big feller look up frame gusetting and that extended swinger puts alot of additional leverage on the shock

Welcome. Which ever way you decide to go, top ends are easy to do on Blasters. That's not the right swing arm for jumping even if you're 5'4" & 120lbs. You'd be better off with a stock arm or a stout well built +3 or +4 arm. IMHO :) Keep us posted with pix.

Oh I can do that - I've got a 220mig, plasma cutter, hydro tube bender, power coater with oven, hvlp paint gun and a ton of steel.

I figure when I tear the motor out I can pull more crap off and shoot some paint on it - brace the frame at every joint as well.

dude you got alot of stuff I'm envious of you, for fabbing I have a vice, dremel, grinder and drill ...oh and a hammer .no welder and for steel I hunt around at work. do you think you could extend my swinger for less than $100 yb wants a-arms but wont tade for extension job

yeah that swinger loooks way long, how long is it?
with your fabbing stuff i would def check that swingarm and reinforce it if necassary, if the jack ass that sanded the cylinder did it who knows when its going to take a crap on you :p

I'll measure that thing tonight - I'm not too worried about it, if it folds I can easily build another one.

Wow I forgot about this project. Had a buddy chuck the cylinder up in his lathe and spin it up and bore it out - it's now 68mm. Hope to have ot back together, but I just got my Atlas 2 transfer case for the Bronco.
