Hi so i have a yz 125 1990. when i took the head of the other day it spilled water out. i never thought nothing of it just dry it and put a new head gasket on but i thought and thought and i decided to tear it down i got barrel off then i turn it on its side to take drain plug out and it spilled alot more water out. then i took the drain plug out and the oil is like grey milky color. would i be best tearing it down completely and cleaning it? iv got a new piston etc in other engine but the other engine is missing half the gears behind clutch basket.

For the oil to be white it has been emulsified.

Water laden oil has very little lubricating properties, and bearings can be damaged.

Gears are a little more resilient and can take some punishment, but if the bearings have been running in water for any time I would be replacing them.

yeah buddy i got a spare engine but its missing the gears behind clutch basket. but the crankshaft was seized on the spare. but the bearings were like new. that never had water in it not sure what went wrong with it as piston was like new as well. iv got another gearbox as well if i need it. but im going to be tearing it down now anyway as i had a look at clutch and the basket is broken along with the plates rusted together so just going to check everything before putting it back together.
