Engine froze?

So I started my bike up a few days ago, let it run for a few minutes because I hadn't started it in about a month, and it ran fine. Put it back in storage, and after I left, I realized that I left the fuel on, which I thought would be no big deal. I go to pick it up to go riding today, and I tried to kicked start it, and it made a funny noise and became hard to kick. So me and a couple buddies tried push starting it, and the tires just locked up when I let out the clutch. Any ideas? Possibly frozen? Thanks in advance

Sounds like the top end is stuck. You can try putting some 2 stroke oil in the top end through the spark plug hole and see if it helps. But be careful if it is a stuck ring it may cause more damage. You can always take the carb etc. off and look through the transfers to see in the cylinder a little bit.

^^^ same with the exhaust side, take teh header off and take a peek inside. best thing would be to pull the engine and take the head off and get a GOOD look at whats going on.

It still cranks with the kicker, but just won't budge when we tried to push start it. I may pull the motor today and see what's up.

huh, must be in the tranny then. do the wheels spin when the motor is in neutral and the rear wheel off the ground?

Yea, the wheels spin just fine when in neutral. Also, when I tried to kick start it, it felt like it would jam, and sometimes it wouldn't go past like half way.

The clutch and gears looked alright. There's was no metal shaving in there. I don't think that the clutch or gears would cause it to get stuck while trying to kick start it.

Yea, after I got to thinking about it, that does sound like what happened. What needs to be replaced after that happens? If anything at all? Or just clear the fuel out and try it again?

Since you haven't tried pulling it to start it probably just needs to be cleaned out and fix or adjust the carb. Take out the plug and try kicking it over. If it filled up with gas you will take a gas bath when it hits the bottom of the tank and goes everywhere.

Me so smart!!! HAHA. Adjust the float height and check and make sure the needle valve on the floats actually shut off the fuel.

I posted on another thread the float height, if you need it PM me and i'll look it up again.

I replied to your PM also.

Glad I could help.
