Just had a fresh top end put in (ran for years and it was just getting low on compression). I've got an F7 pipe and a 34mm carb that I want to put on the bike. My original plan was to do some motor work while it was all apart and but with the end of school in May and moving for a job it just didn't happen and at this point I don't know if i wan't to put anything more into it then a recamberd head (for now)

So, first question, is that 34 PJ going to be way to big for the set up if I don't do any motor work? If i understand this correctly, the air moving through the larger 34 wouldn't be moving fast enough to pick up enough fuel, or that would normally be the case. But would the F7 and head mod be enough to compensate for that and get that air velocity up for it to run well

A lot of that I would probably figure out by spending the time to run, tune, and jet it; but since its a fresh top end I just don't want to through the carb on and do heat cycles and end up frying/or hurting it because the carb was a terrible match and untuned

I do have my FMF and stock 26mm that I can do the heat cycles on, but I just don't have them with me at the new place.

All thoughts are welcome!

if you dont have any work done to the motor, I would advise against the 34mm. Only reason for a 34 in my opinion is a ported, stroked, 240 BB kit. That stock carb is perfect for your motor and pipe.

as jbuck says, I don't recommend that 34 for an unported cylinder.
but I do run one on my KOR ported 200cc engine.

do you have a 34-36mm intake for it ? and way to adapt it to the airbox tube ?
while still leaving it able to go back to the stock carb ?

you can definately do the heat cycles with it though, but not just throw any 34 on, it has to be somewhat jetted,
probably starting with a 42-45 pilot for an unported cylinder & F7,
follow the airscrew/pilot tuning to figure it out: http://www.blasterforum.com/threads/adjusting-your-airscrew-pilot-jet.51060/

check the float height while you're in there: http://www.blasterforum.com/threads/float-heights-and-how-to-adjust-them.50565/

if you do plan to run it, you WILL NEED:
#6 slide,
CEL or DGH needle, (DGH is my guess for your setup)
the needle and slides in most 34's are way too rich, but thats better than too lean.
and probably 145 thru 152 mains for that unported setup
plug chop to dial in main jetting
