I have been thinking about boring the engine on my blaster. What kind of money would that involve spending and what new parts would I have to buy. Also what kind of performance gains can I expect from boring the engine over. Thanks for any advice.
Well from what i learned ya aint gonna get any more usable power out of a bored cylinder. It'll cost about $50-75 for the bore and then another $100ish for the piston kit gaskets.
if you dont need to bore it then you shouldnt. you wont get more power from boring it but if you get a big bore kit you will. a 240 kit is around $600 for the vitos one which is the cheapest. the only reason you should bore the stock cylinder is if you need to rebuild the top end.
yup. don't bore it out seeking power, you're not gonna get anything noticeable unless you've got bad ring seal now. plus you're going to reduce the life of the cylinder if you bore it out without needing a refresh
if youre looking for more power and not trying to spend 600 dollars on a 240 kit then get it ported by one of the builders on here. it will make a big difference in power and is cheaper than the big bore kit
thats a good point, a ported stock jug will most likely make more power than an out of the box 240 from vito's....now an airsal or something is a different story and a ton more money
over boreing a bike for no reasions a waist of time it will not make it fast like people think the only way is to resleave to a big bore 240 kit or vitos big bore kit. if you bore it should only be for a rebuild on the topend.
it streamlines the airflow and changes the port timing, you'll have to contact one of the builders on here, oconnor, kennedy, flotek, or wildcard. everyone will tell you something different, but everyone seems to be pretty happy no matter what way they go
