K,

I want to add break light to blaster.

here is info.

its a 1998 wiring harness.

I have hdryo front brakes, they have connector for brake light. currently not connected.

wondering what to connect them to, so when used, the brake like will come on, a brighter light.

The current lights just run bright when turned on, low or high, meaning. low and high work, but no break light.

I picked up a rear break light switch to be mounted yet, for the rear brake, non hdryo rear brake. standard rear brake.

But can be mounted and the spring to the rear brake pedal.

Same issue, where do i connect the wires ?

And get higher volatge to the light so its brighter, to know when the person is braking.

You do not need to find a higher voltage scource, you just need to buy a globe with a higher wattage filament.

The yellow/red wire after the voltage reg is your supply wire and any black is the ground.

Here is my thoughts

I looked at the 03-06 manual, electrical and pre 2003 manual.

here is what I have found and think I might try.

the 2003-2006, have a 3 wire tailight, versus the 2 wire tailight that I have.

the two wire tailight pulb, 1 to ground the other to blue wire. which basically goes to full voltage (high beam as a example).

the other one to ground.

the 2003-2006.

the three wire tailight.

1 go goes to to low voltage (example - low beam)
1 wire goes to yellow (high voltage, example- high beam)
1 goes to ground.

Here is what I am thinking.

Splice the pre 2003 talight, two wires.

the blue one and have it run to the low beam (green wire) (on al the time when running and lights are on).

Add a wire to it, that goes to the brake switch, that would go to yellow wire (high beam).

when the switch is activated, it would send more current to the tailight bulb, brightening it.
pre 2003 bulb is 12volt, 3.4 watts, tailight.

now, I had trouble trying to find the info for the 2003-2006 tailight bulb. But i think its 12/21/5w.

the pre 2003 headl light bulb is 12v/45 watt.

So, if I ran the wiringlight this , will the bulb blow ? or how quickly.

Maybe I can find a bulb, for the pre 2003 tailight that will fit, but just have more watts capicity.

Thoughts???

any thought on a bulb. maybe someone has doen this, and know or recall what size or part number of bulb they used.

Here is update.

went to auto zone, 1 they do not have a 20 or 35 watt bulb in that size or type of bulb style.

they did have a 12w bulb, with same connector, but it was going to be longer and bigger and not gonna fit inot that skinny taillight housing.

So, really, I would have to use a 2003-2006 taillight.

You need a twin filament bulb and a holder for it to fit into.

Something like a 12 volt 5/18watt.

Forget about your idea of delivering extra current to a bulb with an extra wire, it don't work like that.

There is no such thing as high voltage or low voltage wires, they all carry the same voltage and available current, up tp 55 watts.

All the current is available on the yellow/red wire, it is the bulb that chooses how much current it will use, a low wattage bulb will draw little current and vice versa.

You need to pick up power from the yellow/red wire, run it to the brake switch and then to the 18watt connector of the twin bulb.
