electric start?

tape 3 "d" cell batteries to your right thigh !!!!!!

IDK about electric start, but you can run heated grips to make the wintry weather easier on your hands... BTW, as long as you choke the engine, it should start right up hot or cold as long as the carb is tuned properly.

I would suspect that you have a slight compression issue if it's a cold starter. Take a cold compression test and a hot compression test on a day when it's having a particular problem. The cold number will probably be significantly lower than necessary to start the engine. The kicking causes compression in the top end which slowly but surely heats the piston. When the piston heats up, the ring endgap closes and the piston to cylinder clearance closes sufficiently to increase the compression to a point that ignition can occur.

If the cold compression numbers ISN'T low, I would suspect a dirty pilot jet, a cold induced air leak, or a faulty choke circuit.

Just an FYI, as braaaptor said, the blaster should start cold with choke as easily as it starts warm. I went out this past winter and fired up my blaster in the 20 deg F range and it started on the second kick. Of course EXTREME temperatures (cold enough to cause gasoline to reach it's flash point) will negatively effect the starting ability of the blaster.

As far as an electric starter goes... I'm not going to say it's impossible to do. With enough time and machinery at your disposal you could custom machine an electric starter drive boss into the clutch case. The ability is there. You would have to modify the starter gear significantly (it's designed to go down and then spring back up, not turn 360 deg around and around) but you could theoretically hook a starter motor up to the kicker instead of the "paddle" type kicker that's on there. Of course, you couldn't leave it on there like a quad with factory installed electric start but you could hook it on there to start it up cold and then stick the regular kick starter on to restart it once it's warmed up (if you happen to choke it off or want to shut it off for any reason).
