so a few moths ago i had some help from this guy and we were puting my whole motor together it ran but we needed a few more things i started it and it locked up...today after spending another $276.00 my blaster ran and drove pretty well besides it was flooding so on my way up the hill just a little hill it died wasnt a big deal cause i new it was the carb it needed ajustment got it started like 15 min later then while driving home it died again cause i let of the gas to fast well brought it to my freinds house got it started with a squirt of starting fluid in the air filter and headed up to my house on a dirt trail and there was mud and rain in the middle of the trail so i slowed way down and killed it died again my freind was behind me with his quad with the starting fluid he squirted a little in it again and it was almost starting and after bout 20 kicks or so of no start i pulled the choke and it was locked up after a throw with the helment and a shake in the head he pulled me home... i pulled the plug when i got home thinking possibly there was some gas in the cylinder but there wasnt soooo what happened?? it wasnt even runnning when it locked up and i have no idea how it locked up i just bought a simi new cylinder head had it bored and ported cleaned it real good and went of the video ken o conor made. the piston was new and the rings where lined up right i put 2 strock oil on the piston ok it was all in right i started the break in proccese and then this hapened

i am calling a catostrophic air leak making it run lean and scoring the cylinder and frying the rings, do a compression test firdt off, and then get a leakdown tester from holeshotman and see what is going on there

next time when it goes together a few tips

clean the carb, clean the petcock, use a little bit of rtv or aviation gasket maker on the reed gaskets and base gasket, and check the head and base nuts after EVERY heat cycle

Could be alot of things...start looking by pulling the cylinder off and check the condition of the piston first.

The 2 stroke motor is so simple and the tests to verify it's ok are so simple compression leak test and plug chop ! That's it!!!!! Those 3 tests which are dirt cheap can save you hundreds or even thousands !!!! And keep a logbook of what you change so you can compare set ups I see thread after thread of the same thing blown up top end blown up top end yadda yadda yadda if you like burning up money just set your wallet on fire !!!! Cmon guys start using your heads!
