O.K. My project blaster is just about fully rideable, all I have left are the chain rollers, the previous yahoo who owned it removed them, so I don't know exactly what goes on there. So, I order some chain rollers, the description states they are upgraded design with sealed bearings for long life, all attaching hardware etc. etc. Just what I need! A complete retrofit! Anyway, I get the rollers and they are just plastic pucks.... no bearings, no hardware, just the plastic. I call the place up and they say "That's all there is for blasters, but we changed the description." thanks, no help for me. I ask them, then why does the roller just flop around on the mounting stud? They say "you need a bushing that goes in the center of the roller, take it out of the old one and put it in the new one." I say i ordered their crap based on the 'old' description because I don't have any of it! Yarrggghhhh!!! X(

So I keep the rollers... it'd cost more to send them back than it's worth and they are some super high tech delrin (suuurrree8-|) BS. I head out to the Yamaha dealer, order up 2 bushings, 2 washers, and 2 bolts. Get them here today and guess what.... the inside diameter of the yamaha bushing is the same as the new high tech roller, and it just flops around on the shaft! It won't go into the roller because the I.D. is exactly the same!

So, simple question is (drumroll please) are the dang rollers supposed to have so much play on the shaft? Do the aftermarket rollers require a bushing at all, and If so, what bushing do I need? I could throw a ham in there, pull out the bone and have less free play! Also, I switched to one of the longer, full contact front swingarm slider... do I even need the rollers?

what and where did you order your parts , i need to change mine too, i dont want to have the same problem as you

i oredered new ones awhile back and you have to get the plastic sleeve that goes inside the roller ...but there is not that much play in mine....seems someone on here is building some custom rollers with the ball bearings u can do a search and prolly find him

Yes, I know that. As I stated I went to yamaha and ordered the sleeve: PN 4V4-22184-00. I have them right in front of me. There is still a lot of play, and the inside diameter of the bushings is the same size as the new rollers I got. So, is ther supposed to be a lot of free play, or not. Thanks

like i said there is hardly no play in mine..it spins easy but no alot of play. either they sent u the wrong one or you dont have the right bushing.

mine have some play in them

I had the parts guys check every year from 1988 to 2004... there was never a superceded part number or anything for the bushing.... I'm going to have to say that this is the way it is and go with that. :-/ I could see one bushing being bagged wrong, but not two. Seems pretty cheezy compared to what I'm used to, but if it lasts, I guess it's o.k. Unless I hear definitively otherwise, I'm going to have to say it is what it is.

There isn't even a bearing there.........
Thanks guys.

I ordered the bushing, washer, and bolt right from Yamaha...look at the parts fiche under 'FRAME'... #7,8,and9. They were only $12.00 for two of each, but still... I ordered the rollers off eBay first and thought I got shafted, but it looks to me like the Ebay rollers require no bushing because the inside I.D. is the same as the bushing. They just ride directly on the shaft. But there seems to be way too much play to me....

the ones i showed you have bearings in them, then you need to cut off the tube that the silly stock junk slid on, and just use the bolt supplied to bolt them on, i've been using them on my blasters for years like that with no troubles
the ones i have now are from eastcoastatv.com, i had one go bad, called them and he sent me 2 new ones
the black ones from ecatv last longer than the colored ones
like i said, return or scrap all that stock junk and call ecatv, they will hook you up

Thanks, That's what I thought I did by buying the ones from ebay. Take a look at the picture used in that auction.....see that black roller in the lower center with no bearing? That's what I got. When I called them they said that's all there is for blasters... Oh well. I'll run these until they grenade since I have them already, then I'll call east coast ATV.. I've ordered from them before and had no problems.

check them out on they're site, they are made from some harder sh*t than the colored ones and seem to be holding up great

and make sure you keep a close eye on that lower one, with that much slop, its sure to wear qwick, and you dont wanna cause any damage to anything
