how hard is it to drill out a jet like the local shop is realy expensive and not open today and i wana ride how hard would it be to just drill it out wit somethen a lil bigger cus i need a 260 and i have a 230

there really precise, i dont think you can do it, they have to be rifle bareled or whatever you call it, to make it perfectly smooth.

No seriously on my KFX 730 after I put in the race cams they didn't make a big enough jet for that carb so we'd just drill 'em out.
Same thing as buying a bigger jet...Gotta be precise, though in this guys position he's way lean and he sure can't hurt anything by going bigger ptiing

haha, i've often thought of this, but never gave it a go. just go in small incriments, maybe even get a bit that will fit in the hole and just reem it a little and give her a try. i can definately see a difference in the size of the whole between the stock 230 and the 350 i am runnin now, but from a 230-260? i don't know how their measured, i know a 250 doesn't have a 1/4 inch hole... so it can't be thousandths of an inch... and i don't think it's 10 thou either... sorry ramblin...

Yeah if you do try to ream it out, make sure you keep the bit parallel to the hole; you don't want to wobble out the hole you might have problems
yea tryed it and it just floods out and cant keep up with its self i didnt foul the plug tho so im just guna go buy a new jet!! it was fun tryn tho
lol i was just doing it for fun cus i couldnt hurt anything and i have to buy a new one anyways and the local shop is asken 9 bucks for a 270 jet
They actually sell drill bits for jets. Look somewhere like jegs. They have kits to drill jets for cars.
I had to do this for my TTR 230 the pilot jet was lean after I got rid of the spark arestor and swiss cheesed my air box. They onlt had main jets that were bigger so i jetted the main the non hillbilly way and then I took a welding tip cleaner and went to town. There basically just an assortment of really small round files, it works great.

$9.00 for a jet? You need to find a new shop. Mine charges $2.00 each and it doesnt matter what size. Does your shop also charge $300.00 for an FMF silencer that should cost $120.00?
