Today there was a nice looking 1988 IT200 came up on my local CL. I've liked every 200cc 2 stroke I've ever ridden, though never owned one until the Blasters. Here's a link to the listing 1988 Yamaha IT 200 . That's what I know about it, too late to check on it tonight. I'd have to put some of my Blaster plans on hold to buy it, for a short time but I have a CR250 that I will sale if I buy something like the IT. The CR is an old one but (IMO) the best of the breed. It's the 91 and it's all new. I got it in trade for a Yamaha 200 quad, that I had $100 in. The CR had busted cases and I bought the best parts from the cases in. Everything on the inside of the engine is new except for the tranny shafts and gears. It just needs the engine put together. The mechanic that does my engine work said to bring it anytime and he'd get it together and ready to go in in a couple of days. Then I would be all Yamaha. The bonus is that I will be making $600 to $800 profit on the CR which would cover the cost and rebuild of the IT, Basically the IT would be free. The down side is that the 6-800 was going to be put into the Blaster engine. Opinions on the IT, putting off building me an engine and spending those allocated funds on a 2 wheeler.

It would be to ride but I would be dolling it up some too. I have 2 or 3 front ends from later model bikes, so an invert conversion would be one of the first changes made and then I'd have to get some rear disk brakes on it and since it's needing a topend, some porting and head work would be in order. After that, just make sure the tune is good and ride it.

i sold my crf250 about 7 years ago. my legs just couldnt take the heavy jumps, whoops, and arm pump anymore. Construction Kills your knees and back bro!
thats why, when my boy wanted to get into riding, the first thing i did was buy the blaster. sure it was for him n i to work on and learn from but, i knew Colin would want a bike sooner or later. well, it was sooner. about a month after we finished the quad he got a yz. so, i ride the blaster now. i gotta admit, its a lot less taxing on my tired old sh*t than a bike but, i still ride the hell outta it!
i guess what im saying is, if your young, which you are (smart azz!) and all youve ever known is 2 wheels, stick with what you know! feed that passion! your quad days are a little ways off. id hold on to, and hold off on, the blaster and get the IT! fix it, ride it, enjoy the sh*t out of it! thats why we all ride in the first place; to enjoy it!!!

The IT line of bikes was Yamahas version of an enduro bike.
They were developed in the 70's and all are air cooled. The cylinder port layout tech is very similar to the blasters, the whole motor is very similar.
It's a good bike.

I don't have anyone to ride bikes with anymore. It's been over 10 years since I have really ridden bikes and the guys I rode with kept riding, kept racing and kept getting faster. I wouldn't have a chance of keeping up with the pack anymore. About a month-6 weeks ago I got my part finished on a bike for one of my buddies. A CR500AF and it is crazy fast. He spent a year getting the engine built and then it took about 6 months for the chassis fab work. All I did was measure everything and machine all his mounts for the engine, tank and radiators. This IT would be fun for me to mod, trick out a little bit. Back in the day I would mod my bikes but I was lacking the tools to really do the things I wanted. Now I have the shop and tools to do whatever I want and the IT would go well with my Blasters. It just seems to fit my current interest. I'm going to plan to go talk to the owner of the IT Saturday and see what kind of deal I can get. He bought a KX500 from me right as we were finishing the CR and he's now looking for an aluminum framed KX chassis and then we will be starting the KX500AF. It should be allot better ride, the KX500 in a power valve engine. Well here is a pic of the CR.
