Working on my buddies blaster, I convinced him to go premix and ditch the oil pump set up. This is on an 04 BTW. So what I did was undo the pump cover, undo the two screws and pull the pump off the shaft coming out of the engine. I then took the four screws out and pulled the internals out. Lastly I pulled off the metal gear in there. Is that the right gear I read about to pull out? Also, the line that goes into the carb, how is that fixated? Its got the gold colored ring around the end. Thanks for any info and insight.

Once the gear is removed, either put a block off on the hole,or put the pump back on,and plug it.

Then plug the wire going to the carb, you dont want an air leak.

lastly dont forget to premix 32-1

Once you do that it may be running slightly lean, you should go up on the main jet one or two sizes. This will complete the job, make sure you do it or else the engine might be running a bit lean and get a bit too hot.

assuming you have the jetting right at the moment, check the size of your main jet, and get the next to sizes and try them out for performance.

the plastic gear you want out is under the whole clutch cover, but the way you did it will work, make sure you plug the inlet on the carb
