Hi so i had a thought tonight about rebuilding my quad as i don't know when it was last done and could save alot of problems. i done full rebuilds on my 2 wheel bikes is a blaster engine just the same? also where can i get the parts cheap apart from crankshaft. bearings, gaskets, wisco piston

thanksB)

Provided it has good compression, no nasty noises, passes a leak down test and runs well with no bogging problems, I would keep riding.

If you suspect that it is worn or tired, you could pull the top end off and run a few measurements on it, to make sure if it is within specs.

Cheers Long view. and im just going to do it blaster as the guy i swapped only looked around 13 and he obviously had a shot of the blaster and was terrified as it was lying a while so just going to give it a fresh build and keep the stuff i take out if its fine and keep as spare. i always tend to do rebuilds as im abit wary of buying bikes and quads off people that don't look like they know how to ride lol

If you have the ready cash, and the expertise, then it may be a good idea for peace of mind.

If you need any help, start a thread, there is a wealth of information here.

will do mate :) i can do them no bother as iv ordered case splitter and got clutch tool and fly wheel tool. the only bit that really drives me nuts is if the gear box gets stuck in each side of the casing and its just putting it back but once the gearbox is fine i can work away no bother :) i have a impact driver as well in case its needing for anything thats tight!lol , but will post a thread if i get muddled :) it took me 4 days to rebuild my yz engine 2 hours to dismantle a day to put new parts in considering i stopped for tea!lol , and then i got stuck with gearbox but i went along and i got it in the end and the bike ran as sweet as anything just a shame that the sump had been welded by previous owner but ah well got a blaster now and its my babe for life ;) haha :D
