I'm dazed and confused here. Just bought my second Blaster after a 4-5 year break from the first, and I'm beginning to realize that my area sucks for meeting many of my needs. Yes, there is a Yamaha dealership about an hour away, but there are all kinds of shops and stuff closer that don't seem to have crap.

I haven't even run the premix out of this thing since I've bought it but it seems like I can notice white smoke (pretty steady) even while ripping around/on the throttle. I haven't even ridden it since yesterday because I worked today and it was dark when I got home....I got so worried yesterday though because I was trying to start it without the choke pulled out for 10 minutes, it wouldn't start, so I came back an hour later pulled the choke out and it started on the first kick.....

I was so focused in on the engine though that I thought I heard something steadily/rapidly making noise in the cylinder every half a second. Worst part is that it could just be the way the Blaster sounds or how it has sounded since I've bought it, but now I've got myself all worked up since I keyed in on it....HAH. X(

Anyway, I've noticed many forum users throwing around names of oil they use and the Blaster manual recommends 10w30....I really haven't read any post where another member says they use 10w30. I wanted to get Bel-Ray Gear Saver but even that is 75-80 wt so I'm pretty confused. The quart of AMSOIL says it is for 4-stroke engines and motorcycle transmissions, both two & four stroke.....wet clutch compatible and no friction modifiers.

What does the white smoke smell like? Does it smell like a 2stroke or a old car that burns oil?

To tell you the truth, when I hear people talk about Klotz and the smell, that is pretty much what I think of....I have no idea what the guy premixed with but it doesn't smell like rubber burning or an old car burning oil....both myself and the quad just smelled like a 2-stroke yesterday, IMO.

The quad is no joke it has punch but I got home after it was dark and got scared because I keyed in on that noise. So I went and bought oil (not sure if it is the right oil) and was going to start it up tomorrow, check the crankcase oil level, and even if it is at an acceptable level I was thinking of draining it regardless so I know what is in it.

your best options to widen your oil selection if 2 stroke oil is hard to find...

honda dealer sells pro honda hp2 is for the cr dirt bikes but i love it.. thats all iran in my blaster......

polaris pure blue

maxima 929

klots r50 or klots super techniplate

yama lube

amz oil dominator is a option also if its easy to find...

your gonna wanna run pre mix ( no oil injection) and run a 32:1 mix

trans... belray gear saver, or ic herd the honda hp4 is good stuff for the trans also
